That tends to happen when you tank for close to a decade until you draft generational talent.......
In my experience Pens fans have up there with MTL with the rudest/disrespectful fanbase. I am from Canada and I came down to Philly with my Uncle to see my Flyers Vs his Islanders. No one was rude to my uncle, no one screamed at him or showed any sort of disrespect. Pens fans have been the most obnoxious fans I have seen on message boards. Not all of them but a lot. You go to Montreal in another teams jersey and someone will poor beer on you. Some fanbases are disgusting. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
No one, NO ONE, even comes close to the Montreal fanbase.
I read an article a couple years back, where they rated the worst fanbase across the big four sports (hockey, football, baseball, basketball) in North America... Montreal fans were rated as the WORST.
I'm not sure what the criteria were for the list, and it may just be someone's opinion, but still.
I may have the link bookmarked on my tablet. If I can find it, I will post it.
The Flyers are one of my favorite teams in the NHL, but let's be honest, Philly fans do have a bad reputation (across all their major sports). But I agree, they aren't arrogant like Hab or Pens fans. |

Come on, bro. That throwing snowballs at Santa Claus incident happened in the 1960s...We're so very tired of hearing about it. I sometimes watch the Habs on NHL Center Ice (when the Flyers aren't playing) and it's obvious how passionate Montréal fans are...You can sense the excitement every time the Habs carry the puck into the offensive zone...
MJL: FYI...Only wanted to reply to part of his post, not everything he said...So I pasted in the part I was replying to...

Approx 40 points is not enough to be considered a second line Center? Couturier has been consistantly between 34-39 points despite dealing with some inuries and not having quality line mates. Not only that people still forget he is just 24 years old and this is only his 3rd year in a 2nd line position.
Fillpula is a guy who had over 40 points
Patrick is an unknown quantity at the moment. He is expected to be a top line guy eventually, that obviously means little since Daigle and Stefan were supposed to be great players too.
The rest of the guys are young players who will be playing their first full season with the club with exception to Lehtera and Raffl who are 3rd/4th line guys - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Couter did not stand out as a number two center and he had quality wingers. Filppula has always been the beneficiary of great players like Yzerman, Zetterberg in Detroit and Stamkos, Kucherov in TB Filppula is reasonably talented but he does not generate offense on his own. He is not worth his salary imo. That being said I hope they both have tremendous seasons. I hope they prove me wrong.

Sure... When it works.
As for the whole fan thing, if we're talking about on this site, Habs fans for sure are arrogant.
If we're talking about cities themselves, and going to games, then Boston and Philly have got to be in that list.
The real bottom line is this: There's likely drunk, arrogant asshats in every arena, in every city. All these lists are highly biased based on the slant of whoever is writing. Right now, Pens fans almost have a right to be arrogant. They've been pretty impressive for quite a while now. Montreal has their history.
No matter what, each city has great fans, and not -so-great fans. |

My bad, you are correct. I meant Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom, Franzen when he was healthy. He would never have got 66 points without the above. |

Whoever is playing well is going to play. If one guy starts to separate himself from the other, I'm sure the playing time will shift in their favor. |

That's false and baseless. Couturier was the team's best ES player last season and in the past has put up solid point totals at ES while driving possession and shutting down other team's top lines.

Pens 5 flys 2, suck it philly - gravyboy33
Filed for Bankruptcy Protection: Penguins - 2 Flyers - 0
Admittedly tanking: Penguins 2 Flyers 0.
Overall Head-to-Head Records: Penguins vs. Flyers 153W - 98L - 30T (Flyers win)
Number of seasons it would take the Penguins to win every game vs. the Flyers to reach .500 vs. the Flyers: 11 seasons
Number of #1 overall Picks: Penguins 3 Flyers 1
Number of #2 overall Picks: Penguins 5 Flyers 2 (know where I'm going with this?)
And my personal fav...the most embarrassing stat of all: Penguins' 42-game winless streak at the Spectrum; from February 7, 1974, through February 2, 1989, the Penguins were 0–39–3 at the Spectrum.
25 years of humility.
And not ONCE...did the Flyers EVER tank.
And of course....the cherry on top: Under the 2007 deal cut to build Consol Energy Center, the state's contribution was set at $7.5 million annually for 30 years, but in reality, taxpayers have ponied up far more than that and likely will be on the hook for even more in the years ahead.
Since 2009, state taxpayers have shelled out an extra $5.08 million to cover shortfalls in the money needed to pay off the debt on the $321 million arena, and the state is estimating that it will need another $5.6 million over the next five years for the very same purpose.
That's in addition to the annual $7.5 million in payments the state is contractually obligated to make.
Buncha mooches.

Well most people, including myself, disagree. Rocky won an Oscar. What movie in Pittsburgh was ever successful? A Fish Called Wanda? |
