Man, I like Kampf as 4C. He's looked solid as hell. I like Kero too, but I am not sure where him, Kampf, and Dauphin can co-exist.

Think that's why you saw Flipper (c'mon JR get with the program) playing wing.

I know it doesn't include that tough guy to keep teams honest, but wouldn't be the worst 4th line you could come up with those 3 and Vinny.

Like I said, some of these guys gotta go, Rockford going to be much better this year.

They had Dauphin at C in practice today, just to complicate things.

These lines don't make sense. Hayden RW? Jurco is better on LW than RW but whatever I guess. Should flip ADB and Bouma. Flip Hayden and Wingels. Nice to see the 4 young centers in the same game and glad they moved Dolphin back to center.
- Assman22

Hayden is technically a RW - that's where he played primarily in college. With the Hawks was pretty much the first time he played on the left and he was decent in a small sample so hopefully he's versatile and can play either well. Jurco has played both sides depending on the opening of his team.

Q might be putting them on those sides based on how the center shoots / the other guys only play LW well.

I'm pretty sure Hayden played mostly RW in college along with center. LW may be where he ends up in the NHL, but it'll be an adjustment.
- matt_ahrens

I think he just played RW his freshman year and early on with the US Dev Team. He played C mostly in college and was a beast on the PP. Hawks played him exclusively at LW. Either way, I look forward to seeing him with the big club this season. He's ready 100%.

Read a few conflicting reports on Hayden where he's listed as either C or RW, but I think you may be right that he played more RW than C. Hoping he can stick at LW

Capitals forward Tom Wilson has been suspended for two pre-season games for interference on Blues rookie Robert Thomas.
Wilson caught Thomas with a hit over a full second after the latter lost the puck. It's quite surprising Wilson was only suspended for two meaningless pre-season games. However, he now qualifies as a repeat offender and is eligible for a much harsher punishment the next time he is deemed to have crossed the line.

Oh that Tom Wilson, so dreamy

It's pre-season. Q jsut seeing what happens.
- JRoenick97

Q just unable to overcome his addiction to playing people on their off side, regardless if that makes the team worse.

I don't get it. Is a player more skilled/well-rounded/valuable if he can play both, sure. Should that be a going-in strategy if you want to win? No.

Hayden actually seems to be more suited at RW from his past. LW is just where we stuck him last year. Also, it's pre-season so it's the perfect time to do that.

Nice. See how well he does against some bigger, older competition.

That's 3 prospects now that are on AHL contracts but have yet to sign NHL deals this year (including Raddysh). It's an interesting strategy, keep them in the system but don't waste a contract on them. For Bondra it's not a big deal, but there is a risk that they could lose Raddysh or Press if another team tried to sign them.

Regardless of what the opening night Defense pairings are, it appears that the Hawks will be SIGNIFICANTLY bigger and more physical on defense this season.

-Seabrook 6'3' 230lbs
-Murphy 6'4" 225lbs
-Rutta 6'3" 205lbs
-Kempny 6'2" 215lbs
-Franson 6'5" 225lbs
-Svedberg??? 6'9" 235lbs

That is some serious size on the blue-line to go with the quickness/mobility of 1LD Keith and Forsling or Osterle at 3LD. If the D-Core is being instructed to be more physical at the point of attack with Ulf leading the group, the Hawks should FINALLY be a team where physical punishment will be inflicted on Forwards who try to get net presence. One of the biggest gripes of the way the Hawks have defended the last several years has been the country-club experience for opposing forwards in front of Crawford. Hopefully these big boys start clearing the crease with force.

Regarding President Trump: the brouhaha between him and the sports leagues + certain players in those leagues over the national anthem.....

Let's ignore him on this board. He lacks class. Proper etiquette is not his concern, and his popularity rating is low. It is commendable that the Penguins are still planning on attending the White House. Perhaps they will decide against going if some teamatte speaks out and Trump disagrees.

Malkin will go - Hillary said he was one of the Russians who sabotaged her campaign.

It’s on page 178 of her book, “What the (frank) Happened”.

(Crap - forgot about the censorship - much more effective with the real word).
