IMO that's what JV will be. The 3rd wheel. What this team doesn't have enough of is 1st and 2nd wheels right now. Henrik and Daniel can't boast a player like they used too.

What concerns me more is enough playmakers to go around so a 3rd wheel is helpful. We r working on it eg Pettersen etc. We lack ppl who drive the play from upfront & back on D but thats obvious.

I believe a team is on the hook for medical attention & the bills.

That is why I think it would be best for JV to play in Utica, top minutes, PP time. Less of a need for a playmaker for him to be helpful. Can keep developing being a more complete player on a nightly basis.

I don't see a problem with that even if he out plays a 4th liner on the Canucks roster.

On the topic of the 3rd wheel...

In Toronto Hyman is just that on the top line & his talent is puck retrieval for the 2 gifted players who create scoring Matthews/Nylander. Babcock has that on all the top 3 lines & its nothing new at that & goes way back. Bozak/Marner Kadri/Marleau r the other 2 probable pairings with a glue guy to complete lines. Furthermore on D its similar being say Karlsson with Methot. Karlsson is the obvious driver & the 1D & Methot his defensive counterpart who is at best a top 4D on his own.

Is the difference between clubs that little now? I feel as if teams are so up and down from week to week. No team plays with any sort of consistency anymore. Used to have 8-10 teams that were 6-0 and 4 teams would go 10-0. s

I don't like it.

Thats very probable given that he can clear waivers & we r not in the position to compete well enough this season. I guess it all depends on if JV can go above & beyond just being good enough & be a great addition. Thats what we all r going on about & why we spend so much time talking about him & his improvement.

TG will start the Sedins on the PP & ops will put out there top PK.
From there TG can shorten up their shift for the 2PP to come on.
Less TOI for ops top PK unit will help our 2PP.

It's a weird season plus injuries in pre-season/Week 1&2 have had an impact on teams. It's not like the teams that are 2-0 (save maybe Oakland and KC) are expected to go anywhere this season. Besides, teams like NE, GB, Atlanta will all end up with the best records by the end of the season so really until American Thanksgiving, the games don't really matter.
