MGMT said he was a long-term project so I wouldn't be surprised if he spends the most part/all of this season in the AHL to get some confidence in a top 6 role.

Even though spending a year in the AHL would probably be the best possible thing that that could happen for him, there's pretty much zero chance it happens. The Flame gave him a new contract and protected him in the expansion draft.
He's in the situation Ortio was in. He probably shouldn't be starting the year with the Flames, but he's just valuable enough that they don't want to risk losing him on waivers. |

Given the line combos at practice you could be right ...there were two groups ...and lazar was on a line with stajan and Hathaway in the bet group ....this group looked to be 99% of what would be expected to start the season ...the other group was full of rookies and PTO's ....

Genius??? Holy (frank) man. He was drafted 4 years ago and is yet to make the NHL. He may become a bottom 6 player but that is a far cry from a genius pick for a first rounder. - Iggysbff
Ok, 4 years later how is the Oilers 1st round pick, which was the #1 pick in the 2012, doing in comparison? I guess maybe we should be asking Colorado that question? The Brain Trust running the show to the North there shouldn't be talking too much smack about management choices ....... NAILed it! |

I'll never forget when Feaster said that in 10 years Janko would be the best player from the 2012 draft. There's actually a chance it could come true |

Just because our guys (frank)ed up doesn't make your guy a genius. Did you see me defend our choice anywhere? |
