Curious if that scenario plays out where would you slot Lazar on Canuck roster?

Lazar has shown more in the NHL and AHL than Virtanen though so how that means Jake is done too?

Shown what in the NHL?

No expectations here.
Subban has none so neither do I.
Dime a dozen who came n went & never made it to the show. Signing Weircioch & Holm says it all does it not? No faith in Subban when McEney progressed faster & called up & actually played.

Let's put it this way Lazar put up 20 points in the NHL at the same age as Jake (last year) put up 19 points in the AHL.

If Jake was is still considered a legit prospect, as he should be. It is certainly not a stretch to expect Lazar, who has been more impressive so far in their short careers to still be a legit prospect.

Are we still talking gudbranson! I wanna get back on the Gudwagon!

It wasn't last year

Last year Gudbranson was pretty poopy, I don't judge him on last year though, and I feel his value is greater then just on the ice. Especially if he gets back that mean steak and plays within himself. He's 25, he's tough and he has played at an elite defencive level before.
If he can keep opponents honest and provide a little physical backbone to protect the youngsters as well as play like his career numbers suggest, he's worth 5.5 x 7.
He's 25, he's not going to regress unless injured and that's the going rate for a physical non offensive defence first defender with his skill set. I think that yes its all-out of money but treats the market these days.

Lol the impossible scenario. Maybe your personal dislike of Lazar is that you think he's lazy or a head case.

But The Sens gave up on Dahlen. The Flames on Sven and Granlund. So maybe reclamation Lazar has potential that works for Canucks. Just wondering the what if where he would fit. I'll count you out on that.

Good stuff Carol, I hope EG has a nice corsi today
- CanuckDon

I hope he defends his blueline well, finishes checks when he has the chance to and does a good job of handling forecheckers.

Agree pretty much with all u said other than 5.5/7yrs. He has never played that good to deserve that yet but its if possible he can but thats a HUGE IF at present. He is not a top 2 D nor will get paid for it either.

JV and Lazar are both prospects who played a physical/fearless junior game with speed and have had issues adjusting in the NHL. I would not trade JV for Lazar, by all accounts Lazar has been in good shape since being drafted so it's fair to assume JV has more NHL upside since he hasn't exactly been 100% committed in the past. The team hasn't seen him at his best since the 2nd half of his rookie year.

I want to see Gudbranson in the best possible position to succeed. He struggled mightily last year and with more than just stick work which could be attributed to his injury. Benning whether I liked the trade or not acquired him to be a big part of this team and I hope they pair him with Edler to give him a chance to flourish.

I don't have a lot of faith in MDZ to be able to compensate for him at this point.

Even if they pair him with Edler and don't have faith with him at least then they could move him at the TDL for a return.

Jake has high end tools, lazar can't skate. Virtanen is a far superior prospect. Ain't close chief

If smiles were a talent Lazar is a superstar thats it in a nutshell 😜

Again Jokipakka for Lazar/Kostka
Joki no qualifying contract from the Sens.
UFA in Washington now.

Summary: Lazar is useless

I would agree, Jake is the better prospect, but it is too early to call either one a bust.

So far one has performed better in the pro's regardless of whatever high end tools.

It would be be like me saying Goldobin is a legit prospect because of his high end tools but Gaunce is a bust.

He was considered a safe pick too. Goes to show that there is no such thing as a safe pick outside of the McJesus/Matthews/Eichel/Laine type of talents.

Upside is the way to go.
