I pretty much agree with this. I don't agree that the Pens botched his development. Not at all. Kid is not a hard worker. I've read that from many sources the last couple of years. DP can handle slower paced games. It's when the speed and intensity goes up a notch he looks fn awful.

Yep. To blame two GM's, three head coaches and a handful of highly-regarded assistants for somehow ruining Pouliot while absolving him of blame is just silly.

Pouliot is the only one responsible for his own failure.

I think there's a mix of both. While Pouliot may have been drafted under Shero, he wasn't developed under Shero, so to say two GM's is a bit exaggerated. Also, I think he was barely part of the Bylsma era, so that's also a bit exaggerated.

Pouliots development has really been part of one GM (Rutherford) and two coaches (MJ and MS).

Now, there's definitely onus on Pouliot, so I'm not trying to argue that, but I don't believe it's 100% on him. I think it became a cycle that exposed Pouliot's shortcomings as a player.

I think the Pens botched his development, but Pouliot handled it poorly. This is what ultimately separates successful people from unsuccessful people in life. Everyone faces adversity, but how you handle it is what defines you and Pouliot didn't let it make him stronger.

The biggest thing I'm personally going to be annoyed with (not that anyone cares) is when he goes to another team and he succeeds(if, that is), people on these boards will start the irrational reactions.

Yeah Bonino looked great in the HBK line two seasons ago but honestly, I never thought he looked good in a 2C role when needed. Ever. That HBK line was getting very favourable match ups a lot of nights.

I really dont think there's a big drop off from Bonino to Sheahan, if any at all. The unknown here is how Sheahan would fit into the Pens system but obviously the brass and maybe even HCMS think he will. Could bust, could blossom. He's only 25 so its not like teaching a new dog tricks and he still isn't quite at prime yet.

It probably wont cost much to acquire him, his cap hit is only a smidgen over 2 mill per, he's signed one more year and if he works out he's a RFA when next year is over.

Do it GMJR. Do it.

This is a good take. DP has busted. Maybe he can turn it around somewhere else, but three separate regimes have given up on Pouliot, one of which was his long time junior coach. At some point it's not coincidence. If we can get a bottom 6 C for him to take a run at a threepete you obviously do it

Hey so concerning the Goalie's blocker/glove enforcement change. Is there really a good reason why a goaltender is losing his blocker/glove in the first place?

I wouldn't be surprised if equipment managers start making a strap so the goalie can't lose it at all now. No reason to make a strap before because it was a free whistle.

I could be wrong, I'm not an equipment manager.

That makes so much sense! He is a respected leader on the team in my opinion so he should have an A. Might stop him taking stupid penalties as well - probably not!

I like the decision as well. But now who will wear the A the 50 games Letang misses?

That's the genius that is SUlly.

He knows Tanger will go down, who will earn that A? Players will be busting their nut to get it.

Honestly don't care that much. The tradition of sports teams visiting the White House is stupid anyways.

Clearly Trump is a crybaby man-child on Twitter, especially the last few days regarding sports. I don't agree with or respect that nonsense.

At the same time, I'm glad the Pens are taking an a-political approach here and following tradition. Identity politics has become toxic and pervasive in many aspects of society and I am impressed by how well the NHL has distanced itself from that crap.

There is a gross amount of political intolerance these days (largely in the form of 'progressive' moral outrage). You need to look no further than Ryan Wilson's own Twitter account where he claims 'there is no neutral' and proceeds to label anyone who disagrees with him as a bigot. This is not the kind of behavior I would expect from an adult.

Anyways, with all that said, I definitely would have respected and understood had the Pens chosen to cancel their trip to the White House. Mostly I just don't want hockey to become the newest political platform for progressives. I tend to agree with a lot of their politics but I don't need to have it shoved down my throat at every waking instance.

rant over lol.

I am glad the Pens are going to the white house...stay apolitical. Ryan is a twink, typical...either you agree with me, or you are a racist.
