It's odd to say they should move him when you don't even know if he'd be claimed on waivers. - Feanor
It's not odd at all if you've followed my premise. |

How do you know Leier's perspective? If you asked him if he'd rather make $80K, ride buses, and play as opposed to making $800K, fly on planes, and not play, how do you 100% know his answer?
The Flyers have in no way or shape done anything wrong to Leier, and they owe it to their fans and the rest of the team to ice the roster that gives them the best chance of winning. If they feel that Leier as the 13/14th forward gives them the best chance, that is what they should do. - jmatchett383
It's pretty easy to speculate on what Leier's perspective is. The choices you gave here are not even a part of the premise that I've posted. I never stated that the Flyers have done anything wrong to Leier. Nor did I state that the Flyers should put the player before the team. I said if they don't view Leier as part of the future for the NHL team than they should think about moving him for an asset if they can to give the kid a chance in a situation that might be better for his NHL future. It's all speculative. The Flyers might view him as part of the future. |

They may view him as a valuable player to keep with the team as a spare forward, which means they may be "holding him back," from playing.
But I'm sure you're 100% right and infallible, as always. |

Up until that pinch, I felt like AMac was doing relatively well.
Sanheim scored, but he's still got a bit too much of that junior hockey mindset going on. I'm a fan of swagger and creativity, but kid needs to be more selective about when he flips on 4th-Forward-Mode.
Hagg makes the team if it's up to me. - Tomahawk
Listen, clearly I am not pulling for A Mac. I am not a fan of his style or the way he is used by the Flyers. I didnt think we was good with the Islanders, and hated that trade from day 1.
Now I think he did a serviceable job last year. I think he was completely misused and that tends to drag him down and enhance his shortcomings.
Last night I didnt think he was good at all. Several times he made poor judgement calls with the puck. He had at least 3 turnovers that I saw that ended up right on the stick of the Islanders in our d-zone. He finished off by completely misreading that 3v3 play and halfheartedly pulled off about a bad a pinch you can as a pro.
He wont be sent down. He likely wont be used any differently then he was last year. I hate it, but it is what it is...

From your perspective you would be. Not from Leier's. Yea, you could look at it as he's under contract and being paid, but you can also do a young player a solid every now and then and put him in a better situation for him if he is not in the team's future plans. - MJL

I'd love to add Sanheim but that AMac/Manning issue has me hedging. - dragonoffrost
Overall, what is the feeling on Travis Sanheim's game? |

I have never seen a fanbase more excited about a player after being signed, playing one game on the fourth line in game 81, after doing absolutely nothing in this game. |

I think he's better than AMac or Manning right now but the issue is how many rookies does the Flyers management really think they want to start the season with. I could see Sanheim losing that numbers game but making an impact when the first injury hits. Think Ghost 2 years ago. |

Kid was a Hobey Baker finalist which is what causes some hype, see the Vesey hype.
One game doesn't make a career either so that can't be overlooked also. I hope the kid plays in the NHL but if he doesn't so be it. Not like he cost much besides the NHL minimum. |

Honestly, if this is the case, management should have zero issue with one of Manning or Mac sitting in the press box. I've seen this team start a season with eight defensemen a few times before. |

Fair enough. I don't know what Scott Laughton has looked like but I'm assuming a fourth line spot is still open. |

They can't start with 14 and 8 and it looks like 14 forwards will make the team. So numbers are against Sanheim unless they decide to have 5 kids, Gudas and either Manning or MacDonald. |

Clearly you aren't following the premise. It's completely speculative and really just having a conversation about how teams sometimes move players for the players sake. For you to even talk about right or wrong shows that you aren't following the conversation very well. As usual, you have to make into something. |

So when anyone else speculates it's speculation, not facts, and they're incessantly hounded.

To me, there isn't one person who has more of an issue around here than the next guy. Everyone somehow some way is always trying to force their point, which is a good and bad thing.
For instance, I hate talking Corsi. There are guys in here that talk about corsi like it's a sure thing. Like it's absolute gospel. Corsi is information. I love information. It shows the value of a player(s) but you can't always take the math from one season to another. In my opinion the eye test is as good as any but when some of you read what you read, there is this belief that it's the end all be all.
Believe it or not, whether I'm right or wrong about my opinions, I'm here information. I look to you guys for this. Once the information is presented, I'll come up with my own conclusion. Fair? |

I'm not really looking to defend AMac so much as rather point out what an agregious turnover Voracek made on that play. |

That game was a snoozefest last night. I found myself just looking for Patrick the whole time. He seems pretty lackadaisical out there but I can't blame him for a low compete-level in preseason on a B2B game night.
I will say that Morin looks ready and, last night anyway, Sanheim looked much better than Hagg. Hagg really did not look good out there. If we were deciding rosters solely based on last night's play, I'm taking Morin and Sanheim into the starting lineup. |

You also left off AMac who definately is not being sent down. Flyers will not go into the season with Gudas, 3 Rookies, a sophmore and a 3rd year Dman that struggled last season |

I don't get this line of thinking.
Why let the experience of a player dictate if they should or should not make the roster? Why not let their play on the ice dictate if they play and when?
I don't care if every player on the roster is a rookie, if they are all better then the other, tried and true, experienced guy, then they should play over the experienced guy.
I will take skill and hockey smarts over experience every day of the week. |
