I don't think Benning initiated that whole scenario. I think it was more so Tallon trying to bring back Gudbranson, Benning saying if he were to trade him he would want Demers, Demers squashing it, and it being blown way out of proportion by poopty sportsnet writers.

Manvanfan posted some comparables. Agree with you Guddy won't sign for less then $4M. He wants to prove this season he's a 3/4 to get more but likely a 4/5 and that's about right for his market.

I think he's a 4. Better then he showed last season.

You must be mistaken, there are no players there listed for 2 million per. 2 million per players are his comparables.

Use what we want to pay him to find comparables, not players of similar talents and stature.

If he plays physically and is all right defensively i could see him getting 3 years at 5.5m per, whether here or elsewhere, he's got a desirable skillset that teams need.

Not sure sure if it has been mentioned but what's everyone's opinion of the nhl sending two teams to china to showcase the game to a new market and then proceeding to call a thousand penalties throughout the game ?

Did anyone watch the game ? Was it decent or have zero flow and probably just confuse tbe hell out of any fan who wasn't a longtime fan already ?

The whole debacle is a Bettman joke. Why send two teams that will both most likely miss the POs? If you want to sell the game why not send Pittsburgh and Nashville the two teams from the cup final? Or send Oilers with McJesus vs the Caps and OV?

I think the League knew it had to be consistent with the slashing/faceoff violations. They had the Lion Mascot and Fin Mascot demonstrate every penalty before the game to the crowd so they knew what they were in for. The Arena looked to be about half full anyway, not really sure China is super invested in hockey yet.

Demers is a positive possession play, that creates offense, plays in the top 4, has good shot suppression numbers, and has a 4.5 million cap hit.

Gudbranson is a fringe top 4, primarily a bottom 6 player, with zero offensive upside, sometimes plays the PK, and will demand a 4+ million cap hit moving forward.

Tallon doesn't give a rats ass about analytics, as he has proven time after time, even after all the analytic boys from Vancouver were hired.
