Interesting that Lupul is going to be checked out by an independent 3rd party physician at the request of the league.

Wonder if they'll make Hossa do it too or make it standard practice for players going on LTIR.

- BINGO!

Could be, but I would think it would be more when Players and the Team don't agree on their condition. Not the case with Hossa, his is pretty cut and dry.

99 time out of a hundred in a real game Kane takes that shot from the slot, but preseason so he made the extra pass that not even DeBrincat expected...oops. That line is pretty dynamic at moving the puck.

If this face off penalty rule continues in the regular season i see a good faceoff centerman being negated.....the "skill" in being good at faceoffs is cheating. If you cant cheat anymore the blackhawks wont be hurt not having good facoff centers.

( if that made sense)

I use this a lot:

You have to close a lot of pop ups but once you get to the game, it's fine from then on.

Finally got this to work mid period. Thanks for posting. For some reason couldn't get the reddit streams to work.

Ads are so annoying...now they have fake x's and hide the true x's...wtf

I just got a bad feeling that Svedberg is going to make the team. Something like:

Keith - Murphy
Kempny - Seabrook
Svedberg - Franson
Rutta

Seems like Forsling needs more time in the Rock. Svedberg is LD. Has the reach. Ok on the PK. I hope they add someone else but it could happen.

- matt_ahrens

Svedberg, Pokke, or Gus.

I think Gus could go to Rockford with no problem. The other two have to pass through waivers? I kind of think Bowman will try to keep one between Svedberg and Pokke in the AHL.

I like Highmore and am not a fan of Iocopelli. Anyone care to state why they think a one dimensional lug like Iocopelli can make Chicago one day on a scoring line? He can really shoot it and that is all I see.

I think it sends him back to Rockford, if I remember correctly he did sign an AHL contract with them.

Yep:

I know it's just two preseason games, but damn Schmaltz looks excellent! Does he figure to be 2C if he keeps this up or is Anisimov pretty set to stick with Kane (and maybe Debrincat)?

Q's been implying that Schmaltz will get first crack at playing with Kane and they've played almost exclusively together in scrimmages so far.

Have always liked the 7 footer's feet, balance and of course his reach. Game never seemed too fast for him as a rookie but it seems after a yr in Rockford the big guy is even calmer and making nice little smart plays. ...... I think it is waaaaaaay over looked how balanced this guy is in open ice and he trusts that balance as you see him step up and challenge/poke check at his own blueline as he is retreating.

Doubt he makes the roster but you could do a helluva lot worse as far as depth while in cap hell.

- BINGO!

They won't do it for everyone because it would take too much time / money. It's happening with Lupul because the player literally said the team was cheating. The league does review LTIR docs and such for every player, they just don't always get a 3rd-party doctor opinion to check the player out personally.

In regard to Hossa, they are already reviewing it pretty closely as I understand it. Hossa's condition has supposedly been documented and league known for years, especially thanks to the type of medicine he's been taking more recently, but there were a lot of other teams complaining so the league is going to scrub a little deeper than normal. Who knows if that means a 3rd part doctor doing their own evaluation or just making sure their own butts are covered.

Scott Powers from the Atlantic just subtweeted Mirtle's take on the new scrutiny with a link to his own article about Hossa's LTIR situation where the first line is: "You can bet on the Blackhawks being allowed to place Marian Hossa on long-term injured reserve." And he followed up with tweets saying the review was always in place / standard procedure, and he's highly doubtful the Hawks would ever be denied.

Lot to like so far this preseason but Q playing Sharp on line 3 is one of my favorites. If Q can find a bottom 6 that has Sharp and or AA on the 3rd line with Hartman the Hawks are in damn fine shape.

Wish there was more 5 on 5 but ADM has looked much better than I had hoped for.

Kid was 20 when he was drafted and is 23 now as a rookie despite only 2 yrs playing NCAA. Thought the Hawks reached for him in the 3rd round. My guess is he'd have been around in the 5th or maybe 6th round... Set the USHL single season goal scoring record and the Hawks took him. A power type forward who's skating is average.

Keep Sharp at 15 minutes including PP time and he should be effective. 17+ minutes in the top 6 and he'll show his age vs top 4 Dmen and shutdown forwards.

I think Sharp is still in great shape physically and his "decline" had a bit more to do with health that his age. He had what, two breakaways tonight? Sure, against some inexperience players, but I think he can contribute up and down the lineup if needed.

I think its fun to get excited about the individual performances that stand out among the younger players/new additions.....and learn to completely ignore the overall flow of the game and final score.

I noticed nobody has mentioned Fortins's name on the "most likely players to stick with the Hawks". Has his stock gone down because of injury? He was one of the last players to be cut at last years training camp. My money is still on him to make the team.

The thing that looked nice tonight,if you added up the distance from the crease he (Saad)was standing on all his goals, I bet it would be less than a foot. Yes, 1 game, but nice to see that happening already.
