We have none of that. (Tolls)

$144,000 home. Taxes are $1,800

You have a state income tax

For as much as people complain about the public school system in Buffalo the city of Buffalo's school system is better than 95% of the school districts in Florida.

There isn't a suburban public school district in New York that is worse than any of the school districts down here.

Yes and no

For example I live in Florida, no state income tax.

Property taxes for a $250K house are about $3500 a year

On the lower end for sure.

However almost every highway you take you have crazy tolls. Like my buddy pays $12 a day in tolls to get to work. $3000 a year in freaking tolls.

So make that $6500...

For Buffalo people imagine having to pay $12 a day in tolls to get to and from work.

If you don't have to take tolls to get to work you're one of the lucky ones here.

- Stripes77

If I take the toll road to and from work, I am looking at around $6 roundtrip. If I don't take the tolls to work I add anywhere from 30 minutes to 45 minutes on to my commute one way.

Since when?

nevermind... I see what you meant.

1. Tennessee

Tennessee has no income tax but does have a "hall tax" -- that is, a 6% tax on interest and dividends, which is specifically allowed by the state constitution. Tennessee also has a 7% sales tax. Income taxes are a contentious issue in Tennessee. The state constitution gives the government the right to tax property as well as income from stocks and bonds, but it does not mention personal income. Every so often lawmakers try to institute an income tax, as the constitution does not specifically bar this. This November, Tennesseans will vote on an amendment to the state constitution to ban any future taxes on payroll or personal income.

While Tennessee has no income tax on wages, if you are a retiree living off of dividends and interest income, you should think twice before moving to Tennessee for the tax benefits. In 2011, the average per-capita state and local tax paid was $2,777, according to the Tax Foundation -- the second-lowest in the U.S.

yeah you know what I mean!

Some states do it better for sure

Take NYC out of NY and Buffalo isn't getting taxed like they are

So then you could pick a keeper you didn't draft?
- Stripes77

Yeah. Because people say they would've made different picks

Yeah it is cheaper to own land and housing in the Buffalo area...

$220K house in the suburbs of Orlando and its a modest 3 bedroom 2 bath 1300 sq feet

In say West Seneca, NY you'd get more bang for your buck as well as a much better school district

Food is cheaper in Buffalo as well...

- Stripes77

Take my house, nothing extravagant. 4 bed 2 Bath.

I pay $2,000 a year in taxes, It would be $7,000 a year if moved to NY/Hamburg area.

over the course of 15 years I bank an additional $75,000. Just in property taxes.

Property taxes are things people never consider.

Again, this is where I am and the area is relatively new, ~ 15 years ago didn't really exist and going through a massive expansion.

My point when I brought up the cost of housing was more or less in reference to buying a house/condo out in Cali. Most of the real estate out there is insanely expensive.

There are plenty of other places in the country where it's much more affordable to live like Buffalo.

I like Bob Dylan but I think all he really did was rip off old blues music and somehow make it more boring

Waiting until next year is the compromise

Because there's going to be people who drafted players that won't get to keep them.

Just start fresh

Warren Zevon was underrated.

Also, Dylan's work with The Band and some of the individual members
