My guess is that you're an educated enough hockey fan that you don't really need the announcers while you're watching. Mute the TV, put some music on. If something happens you feel you need an explanation on, turn the TV volume back on for a few mins.

I'm sure there's a lot of fans that aren't a fan of Rick because he's a "homer." It's just part of the deal when most of the broadcasters in the NHL are hired by a team to specifically cover that one. That's not to say that sometimes the "neutral" ones aren't super annoying and biased as well though.
