Agreed. Maroon isn't the type of player you commit serious dollars or term to but I guess neither was Russell and he still got 4x4. As far as I'm concerned, anything more than 3x3 would necessitate that they move Lucic. No way I'm paying two big, 30 year old, 40-50 point scorers over 9 million.

This extension talk should wait till midseason and- more importantly- until after Strome's future cap hit is determined.

I thought this would've been a BBC for sure. Scares me too. ( the BBC and the Maroon contract). How much would you be willing to give him? And how much term?

What am You missing? I don't see a single great Winger on the Oilers. Plenty of pretty good ones-mediocre ones but that's it. Unless there's a surprise break out, we're a long way from Hall, Eberle and Perron. Our centre depth and a the cats tits though!

I hope Nuge has a great season this year. If Nuge plays 3C and gets 50+ points (w/PP time), that would do wonders for us in terms of depth and his trade value.

As for one player I have a particular eye on, it's Slepy. If he develops and grows into a fantastic middle 6 player, he would do wonders for team depth.

Also surprised that no one is talking about Brossoit/Ellis. They played great yesterday under a sub-par defense. It's nice to see that Edmonton has some goaltending options that developing quite nicely. It might be just one preseason game, but it was against actual NHL'rs and if you look into Brossoit's/Ellis' previous years, they seem to be developing very nicely. Even if one of 'em make it, it'll do wonders cause Talbot, 30, to me, seems like he has only 3-4 years left in the tank, especially if he continues playing 70+ games a season. By then, Brossoit and Ellis will be 27 and 26 respectively. By then, I'm hoping that one of them emerge as a clear-cut starter.

Ya I was thinking something like 3 years @ 3.5 mill or 2 years at 4 mill. No more term than that. He's gonna get slower no doubt after 30. He's already slow. Anything 4 years plus will hurt us I think. Wingers are easier to replace than other positions too. Nothing long term. I think he likes it here and knows he's never gonna have it any better than being on Connor McDavid's wing. Hopefully he signs something fair to him and the club.
