I still feel bad for Gunn though. One punch from Butterbean basically ended his career. Some creative writing could have saved that guy's career. - laughs2907
They could have made Billy Gunn a main eventer from that tough enough thing...
I forgot about that. Man, even the majority of lower to mid-carders were cool back in the day. Today, almost everyone there is a dork.
Back in the day, I liked that their scripts were mostly guidelines and they could ad-lib to a certain degree... You could really see a variety of personalities come through because of that. Now they're strict as (frank) and want the wrestlers to memorize everything word for word, and it definitely shows.
I remember a year or two ago, The Rock came back for a couple shows. He saw a couple guys sitting ringside who were dressed up as Hogan, the Macho Man, and I believe the Rock... He went off script, and talked to them, and management were pissed with him because of it... If they get pissed at the Rock for doing it, imagine how they'd act towards any other wrestler on the roster... And the funny thing was that that interaction with the fans was probably the most entertaining thing that happened in wrestling for the full year.
I don't know if it's that the WWE just doesn't get it these days, or if it's because they're slaves to their advertisers... Maybe it's a combination of both. - laughs2907
It's way too scripted and you can tell.... you need to be a good actor more than a wrestler.
Yes he is... on a completely irrelevant note I would remind that Alex DeBrincat who went 7 spots lower had 127 points in the OHL last season. - freelancer
Yes, but at that draft, we already had Yak and Eberle as small RW's on the roster. Maybe that's what the team was thinking? Who knows. DeBrincat looks like a steal for Chicago and Benson looks like another Pitlick for us.

I thought we would have taken DeBrincat for sure.... especially with the McDavid connection.

With us being up against the cap when Connor's contract is on the books, we're gonna need to draft and develop talent in house. Free agency is gonna be too expensive for us.

I think after the loss to Butterbean, they could have made him into a decent heel instead of just canning him... Have him be arrogant, in denial about the Butterbean thing, and become a bully backstage, etc.

Exactly... I hope the Oilers stop drafting god damn bandaids

The could have used Billy and Bart in a gimmick similar to Iggy and Jero.... one sucks it and one rims it.
I thought this would've been a BBC for sure. Scares me too. ( the BBC and the Maroon contract). How much would you be willing to give him? And how much term?
