You do realize that players that go on to be legit top 6 NHL'ers usually carry AHL lines/teams, right? If they need to be carried in the AHL, they're gonna suck in the NHL. Goldobin should be Utica's leading scorer while he's down there if he's truly a legit NHL player. Dahlen is pretty young, but again, if he's talented enough he should be able to produce at the AHL level while playing with decent linemates.

Not like they're being saddled with guys who are bottom 6 AHL players, those 2 can produce at the AHL level.

Calm down. These guys don't need Darren Haydar down there to succeed.

Amen brother, why is this being touted as an issue is beyond me.

It's remarkable how bad Subban is. Shockingly bad
- CanuckDon

I guess if you already have a predetermined opinion then nothing will change that. As the game went on he settled down and made some good plays also.

I'll keep reading and see how much you dump on Chadfield, because he wasn't that great other than his goal.

Chatfield isn't on my radar. He is an undrafted D+2 signing. I have no expectations for him. I assure you I've seen enough of Subban to know I don't like him as a player. Keep reaching

The fanbase was down on Boeser when his production slumped after the wrist injury...we have an insecure and neurotic fanbase

It's because he was a 5th overall pick that people are expecting him to make the lineup right away, when in fact, very very few 18 or even 19 year old defensemen make the NHL.

Shea Theodore was picked by Anaheim as a smooth puck moving dman in the first round, up in the 20's, but he played two more years of junior after his draft year and then a full season in the AHL, save 19 games for call-ups. He also started his fourth year, after being drafted, in the AHL before being called up.

That's four years of development and he's now 22 and ready to be a full-time NHLer. Yet everyone calls him a young dman.

People just need to be patient with Olli Juolevi.

I will admit he surprised me after about the halfway point with some solid play. His passing is a work in progress but credit where credit is due.
He appeared willing to mix it up a couple times as well. Still think Nucker101 is right though, he needs to be converted to a winger.

That was actually the first full game i watched. Subban shooting the puck is great. Problem is there is a lot of other things to the game. His first pass and D play was terrible for the entire game.

The most impressive thing I saw from Subban was his ability to get in on the forecheck.

He clearly needs more time. I honestly would try him at forward.

I'm middle-aged, not old, and I'm not fat

In Juolevi's draft year (2016) there were nine defensemen taken in the first round, one of them made the NHL and one played four games before being returned to junior. Maybe he was taken too high, maybe, but he's got a few years to develop, which is completely normal.

Guys like Seth Jones, Noah Hanafin and Jakob Chychrun are the exception. Most guys drafted as 1st round defensemen play two more years of junior and some play another year in the American League.

2013...
Josh Morrissey 13th overall played 2 more years of junior and 1 in the AHL.
Ryan Pulock 15th overall 1 more year in the WHL 3 years in the AHL.
Samuel Morin 11th overall 2 more years of junior then 2 years in the AHL.
Darnell Nurse 7th overall 2 more years of junior then he made the Oilers.

2014...
Haydn Fleury 7th overall 2 more years of junior and 1 in the AHL.
Julius Honka 14th overall 3 years in the AHL...right after junior???
Travis Sanheim 17th overall 2 more years junior and 1 in the AHL.

2015...
Provorov 7th overall 1 more year of junior before he made it.
Werenski 8th overall 1 more year of NCAA before he made it.
Zorbil 13th overall zero NHL games.
Thomas Chabot 18th overall zero NHL games.

Just finished the game.

Apart from the usual suspects playing well I thought Cassels of all players put together a quietly efficient game. Skating's improved, played the puck well.

If that continues, he might actually carve out a role in the AHL.

Most exciting yes, but not the best Russian ever, Fedorov holds that distinction with his stats and Cups. If OV could ever win a Cup or two he'd be #1

My list of the best Russian players in the NHL

1) Fedorov
2) OV
3) Bure
4) Larionov
5) Makarov

Not a bad period for Canucks. They looked organized and played with pace. Kings were opportunistic on goals but didn't drive the play. Decent exhibition hockey as vet laiden lines help with structure. Though timing is off on finishing.
