Isn't that the exact same attitude people had towards Virtanen now towards OJ. Even though before the pre season everybody had still written off JV. Now love because he has scored some pre season goals.

The fanbase was down on Boeser when his production slumped after the wrist injury...we have an insecure and neurotic fanbase

I watched the vegas game as well. Like i said, maybe I'm just imagining, he looks good either way just haven't seen a big hit this game
- NorthNuck

I agree, this game he hasn't been as physical. That skate to stick was top quality though

We preach russian factor and to not draft russians ever. Except when we compare juolevi and sergachev, both unproven prospects with no NHL experience. Makes sense.

Yeah, wonder why JB and TL didn't want to use certain words.

Don't draft for NHL readiness....

Like scouts say some develop faster but don't mean they develop better.

Totally. I think if there's a spot left on the NHL roster after Boeser makes it he's gotta be the frontrunner right now

Makes perfect sense, any player not named Bure is verboten in Vancouver, every other Russian on other teams are cool though.

Bure was the best ever. He was the most exciting player in the league for a long time.

What he has learned is if he isn't scoring, he can throw a few hits, back check. Do the little things that can help your team win. Instead of gliding around the ice.

He has been good it's still just pre season. I have no problem with him getting top minutes in Utica and being a call up if he is going to play.

I'm saying there were players a lot more NHL ready when we drafted him. I don't see the same top end potential in OJ. I hope I'm wrong about that. He seemed like a safe pick at the time.

Are you saying in a draft do-over you would make the same pick?

- we_are_all_canucks

We are rebuilding and still 4 years(at least) from competing. Draft the highest ceiling, not the highest floor. OJ has the potential to be better than Serg, though not as good offensively.

Most exciting yes, but not the best Russian ever, Fedorov holds that distinction with his stats and Cups. If OV could ever win a Cup or two he'd be #1

My list of the best Russian players in the NHL

1) Fedorov
2) OV
3) Bure
4) Larionov
5) Makarov

The best comparison i would say as the dif between serg and OJ would be the dif between Subban and Keith(not that they will become those players). Serg will be the more dynamic, high risk high reward type that gets burned a lot if he doesnt have a steady partner to cover for him. and OJ will be that steady guy that quietly puts up 40+ pts and keeps things from falling apart on the backend.

So you are tired of being patient for a player who just turned 19...am I reading this right?
