I heard (can't remember where now) that Sakic turned down Hamonic, 1st rounder, and a prospect from NYI before Hamonic was traded. I think that it's going to be very tough to get a trade with Colorado that doesn't involve Chabot, in which case I say good riddance.

As Bob McKenzie stated - in Boucher's system, the right D goes to retrieve the puck while the left guy steps up. The right side are strong puck movers and skaters in Karlsson, Ceci, and Wideman.

Just my hunch: Playing Chabot on the right side is part of this.
IF Ceci is moved for Duchene - then expect this top 4 to start the year to be the following:

Odyua - Karlsson
Phaneuf - Chabot

Dorion asked Phaneuf to waive his no movement clause in June - something I believe was to save Methot and then try to make a move + sign a bigger free agent D-man on the right side. I'm not suggesting Shattenkirk but who knows

If I'm Sakic I'm asking for Chabot. I have to wonder whether it would make sense from an Ottawa perspective to move Chabot but talk about a bigger deal that includes Landeskog AND or a Barrie. The Sens need to make a push here for the cup - they were one top 3 forward away from being true contenders last year. I really like the new wave of young players coming, but they also got new contracts coming, especially with Karlsson

I wouldn't even consider Chabot, Especially if we trade for Duchene, he'll more than likely be here for the term of his contract and be gone

Who knows what it would be but I think it starts with Cody Ceci and builds from here.

Ceci a prospect (not named Chabot, White, Brown or Claesson) and a draft pick I think should get the deal done. But Sakic's asking price for anyone seems to be crazy. So,who knows.

That's a bad idea. Ceci is valuable and I would not want to give him alone for duschene, who sucks terrible defence and would be a bad fit in bouchers system IMO. Having a #1 center is important, but having a solid defense is even more important.

I agree, but I also don't think Sakic is thinking very clearly on this one. he's had the same asking price for two years now and all reports say that he's sticking with it.

Well than I have to say pass. As much as id love to have Duchene, the price is too high.

Would you guys do Brown, Ceci, 1st for Duchene?

Healthy Line-Up

Duchene (6) Turris (3.5) Stone (3.5)
Hoffman (5.2) Brassard (5) Ryan (7.3)
Smith (3.2) Pageau (3.1) White (0.9)
Pyatt (1.1) Thompson (1.6) Burrows (2.5)

Oduya (1) Karlsson (6.5)
Phaneuf (7) Chabot (0.9)
Claesson (0.7) Wideman (0.6)
Borowieci (1.1)

I wouldn't accept that trade. I would say given that Sakic has waited and the price should be reduced quite a bit. I'd do Ceci a 1st and Wideman or Hammond (just thinking outside the box)

As for if we are going with those lines, I would rather see....

Hoffman - Duchene - Ryan
Smith - Turris - Stone
Puempel - Brassard - White
Pyatt - Thompson - Burrows

(Call ups for me are Brown and Chlapik)

Oduya - Karlsson
Phaneuf - Chabot
Cleasson - Boroweici

(call ups on D for me are Englund - Harper)

And Pageau disappears in a puff of smoke... and we get Puempel back.
Don't think it makes sense for the Sens unless we can keep Ceci and trade Brassard+Brown+1st or something like that which doesn't make a lot of sense for Colorado.
Turris, Duchene and Pageau down the middle seems small. Would you guys do Turris for Duchene? I don't think Duchene is an upgrade on Turris, more of a lateral move.

Your probably right in the ballpark of what Sakic would want!..which is a top defensive prospect, 1st round pick, prospect, and a roster player ,so you would be likely switching from Ceci to Chabot ,but in adding brown..could you also somehow include Ryans contract? ..also little bit outside the box, but who knows? 😨..good luck with the rest of the way! Hopefully Karlsson won't be too far behind!

Oh yeah forgot about him, I just think it would be highly beneficial to have Duchene as a #1C with Hoffman and then get Turris as a #2C. We would be competitive around the league and have a ton of depth down the middle. PJG could always fill in where Puempel is on wing.
