Could be worse. CML is actually quite treatable with oral small molecule inhibitors, namely imatinib.

So by my count... Weisse is the new Vandevelde.

He's definitely a candidate.
So is Matt Read.

Wasn't just being the good soldier. Was jazzed up about it.... said several times how much fun he'd had trying it out today. So, we will see. - bmeltzer
I know it could be a one day thing and the be done. but after looking at it and the roster I actually think it makes sense in a way.
He can come off the wall and create. He'll have a big body going to the net in Couturier. I also think it could take some wear off him physically.
I also think it allows for you to get the most out of top 9 now talent wise. |

My only concern is having the 2 best FO men on the team playing on the same line.

I guess.
But San Jose makes it work playing two good centers together in Thornton and Pavelski.
I just think there could be more good to it that would outweigh the weaknesses.
But again maybe it's not even a thing once the season starts. but it is curious to think about. |

Man a line of Giroux, Couturier and Voracek sounds interesting to me..
I think Giroux benefits from a move to the wing.
I think Coots benefits from having stacked wingers.
Jake has 2 other people on his line to draw attention away from him..

Other than my concern about having the 2 best FO men on the same line, I really like the combo. It will be interesting to see how the other lines shake out if they go with this.
I would try:
Weal-Patrick-Simmonds
Nice mix of skill, speed and grit with this combo.
Lindblom-Filppula-Konecny
Filppula is the smart veteran type who could do well between the 2 kids.
Raffl or Lehtera-Lehtera or Laughton-Raffl or Weise
I'm guessing that Read is the 14th forward on opening night and that Raffl is a lock. The other 3 will battle it out for the 2 remaining spots.

I'ts kind of how i see it.
Giroux - Couturier - Voracek
Weal - Patrick - Simmonds
Lindblom - Filppula - Konecny
I do like having Simmonds with Patrick, and I know this is the old way of thinking, But i do want someone there who can take care of someone if they take liberties with patrick.
I also think this allows for you to probably have the most talent in the top 9.
