Last night I began franchise domination with the Flyers in NHL 2018. Patrick led the team in points and goals through preseason after simming them. He will be elite. That is all.

Im probably the only one here who actually loves the idea of moving Giroux to wing. It takes some pressure off of him from a physical standpoint and there is no reason he still can't take important draws.

One of the centers will be on wing but if you move G who's 1C?

I think it is an overreaction. He had a poop year, and he needs to be better. The guy is 29, not 35. Will he eventually move to wing? Probably...but you can't tell me he isn't one of the top 4 centers on this team.

Thinking more about it, it actually could work.

Plus i think it lets you maximize your talent best in the top 9.

It allows for guys like Weise, read, Raffl, Lehtara to battle it out to fill the wings around Laughton.

What would be so bad if he moved to wing?

I think he could have space with a big center like Couturier going to the net.

Giroux is good at defense, he is one of the best players on the team with the puck on his stick, he is still very good at getting through the neutral zone.

He needs to play better, not play wing

I'm down with it, wouldn't have him on a line with Coots though. No need to have our 2 best FO guys on the same line. The following would be interesting though:

Giroux-Patrick-Simmonds
TK-Coots-Voracek
Lindblom-Filppula-Weal
Lehtera-Laughton-Raffl

FWIW, Giroux is our best faceoff man.

But, faceoffs aren't fancy enough for the #fancystats

- jmatchett383

We had two 55% faceoff men last season. It would make sense to put them on the same line to close out games.

He is adequate on defense. But why can't he have the puck on the wing? He can still carry through the neutral zone.

Dig that top 6 but the rest of the line up has some square pegs in round holes. Including both Filppula and Lehtera is going to be a challenge without some injuries or younger guys sitting. I'd balance it out a bit.

G sucked ass last season, and the question of decline is a valid one in my eyes.

He is still a very solid face-off man and has played the majority, and elite years of his career at center. He plays his best when he has more time/space to create (middle of the ice), or PP. I think you get more out of G at center.

Patrick hasn't played one regular season game, he should be 3C in my eyes - and slowly learn in his first year. Patrick is not Matthews or McDavid.

I think there is a lot more coverage/focus on pre-season and training camp, for better/worse. It's like when we hear about all the prospects of every draft becoming superstars. Just noise sometimes.

I'll chuckle if Hak has G playing wing for any extended period of time.

You're not surprised because, presumably, you're smart enough to realize that NHL teams don't give out details for minor injuries and ailments, especially during training camp when the results of the games don't matter.

Well Patrick Kane seems to get a ton of time and space on the wing.
