McKenzie: preseason results mean absolutely nothing
Spatso sad - burn
It is good for seeing where some guys are at. One thing painfully obvious last night was that there were a lot of rookies on D. The miscommunication was comical
The other comical part was the effort.
In both these games, the Leafs looked completely disinterested. The best example last night was Marner. Clearly he has WAY more than he was giving. The Senators played with more intensity, especially team defense.
The good news is that the Leafs still won the "possession" battle in both games I think.
It's definitely pre-season and to be honest, I don't mind the half-assed, low intensity effort... as long as we see the Leafs from last year once the puck really drops |

Thank you, Sigmud Spats.
Just remember that it was Ottawa's #1 forward prospect that suffered a wrist injury that required surgery and that's it possible that he might not be the same, and most importantly, that this happened in an irrelevant game. |

What's the point in Marner and the other staples in the line-up too going all out? As long as they make it through uninjured and don't try to block a shot (with appalling technique like Colin White), then it's a success. |

Yea - no reason for an established player to go balls-out and get themselves hurt in a preseason game. |

Hey (frank)ers,
So it's that time of year again for the yahoo leagues to start up. For those in "ROR's Timmys run", the draft time and date have been set - let me know if there's any issues. You can keep six guys from last season, and then we'll redraft the rest.
If you're in the league and don't want to be, shoot me a DM and I'll look for a replacement. If you're not in the league and do want to be, shoot me a DM so that I don't have to look too hard for replacements!
For those in the original league, Aaron_85 will be back as head honcho this year, but let me know of any issues and I'll do what I can.
As always, check for the keeper deadlines and make sure to have your poop sorted out! |

JVR + Bozak for Duchene.
Give Kapanen a role in the top-6.
Everyone is happy. |

So this is the new NEW NHL now? Holy hell was that a slow game. Should we expect 40min in penalties to be the average per game now? |

The consistency of the Refs will determine how well these changes take affect.

Agreed and you know it's a problem when it dominates discussion during + after all games. |

Will be interesting to see how it changes the "face-off" specialists like Vermette etc. |

I am with Spatso, I am putting all my money on the Sens this year.. After the first 2 wins they had, I can only see them winning the Cup this season. Give it to them now. It is over Kids.. |

I'm wondering if a relocation to Seattle is in the cards for the Leafs after this start. Maybe they can beat Calgary there. |

Exactly. Defenseman are going to become useless if they can't prevent the player from getting a shot off. |

Just make goalie equipment smaller if they really want more goals. Not pads, the (frank)ing chest and shoulder pads that allow the butterfly to eat up 80% of the net. |
