I stand by my picks. It's a lot more interesting than the Pittsburgh/Edmonton/Crosby/McDavid/ Karlsson predictions that make up every other similar blog.
The NHL is in full parity and those two teams just are not that much better than anyone else. I see no reason why Calgary and Carolina can't move into the upper echelon of teams. The Leafs should probably be the SC favorite, as far as I can tell they have the best overall roster in the NHL. - james_tanner1
Toronto's defense isn't there yet.

Dylan Strome is so overrated.
Clayton Keller is going to have a way better year, and has a way better chance of winning the Calder. - classic321
agreed.
In fact, he will win the Calder.

Neither is their goaltending; not an Andersen fan.
The Leafs forward depth is a good as any in the league. |

It was definitely a win for the Coyotes to get Demers and they need their young guys to start putting the puck in the net. They're going to be fighting for a playoff spot but overall I'm very impressed with their offseason. |

Is this Tanner guy a comedian or just stupid? Also, I've never seen a blogger on ANY platform respond to so many comments in his thread. And many of them extremely immature. This is extremely unprofessional, and will certainly limit your chances of one day blogging or writing for a REAL website.
Me, on the other hand, I'm a random dude hitting up a comment thread, so I am happy to tell you you're an insecure hack with zero talent or intelligence.
And please don't reply to this, because I won't be here to read it. In fact, I'll never click on another piece of writing associated with YOUR name.

Solid points, I think Columbus and Pitts will fight it out for first, and it will come down to Bob. A of people mention his inconsistancy which is a very good point, but I don't think he's had this good a team in front of him for so long, and the young players on Columbus are only going to improve.
I think Wennberg has the potential to be a number one center. - david22
He already is. |

I don't see how the Kings got better this offseason after losing one of their regulars to Vegas, not replacing him. Yes, they had a down year last year. But how does that get them ahead of Anaheim? I don't think the Leafs or the Hurricanes will top the Penguins, although I definitely agree they're playoff teams now as are the Yotes |

Do you think if Kopitar returns to the level he plays at normally that could make the Kings better? How about a healthy Jonathon Quick? |

Is it worse than what Pittsburgh iced in the playoffs last year? They're not gonna win, but it's not impossible if they get the right match ups. |

Toronto doesn't have Crosby and Malkin to overcome that.

I like the Leafs forward groups but that defense is a long way from being pretty unless Rielly suddenly gets a hell of a lot better. |

What a terrible false comparison. When have I ever been proven wrong? I get way more stuff right than wrong, and probably have a better track record than most GMs.
Here is a fact: people who use stats to help predict the future get more right than those who just guess. But also, the best sports handicapper in the world loses 40% of the time, so predicting things never works out well for anyone.
Plus, I've played tons of hockey and while I won't ever make the NHL, I'm decent. - james_tanner1

Holy shat!๐จ..you went full nuclear crazy here!๐matthews is winning everything? ..why not the Norris and Vesna while your at it? Lol I mean even if mcdavid got injured you still have Crosby and not to mention Draisaitl and Eichel who both have a year on him for development! And the Rocket? ๐จ..I pegged Laine in winning that one!...so I definitely want what you took when writing this peice! ๐ |

Well Matthews scored 40 goals and 62 points while playing 1 minute less 5v5 and 1 minute less PP than all comparable scorers. Additionally, the S% of his linemates was very low, and he was robbed of a lot of assists.
Add in some strength, skill and character maturity and he should be primed for a breakout.
I see no reason why, like McDavid, he can't win the Hart and Art Ross trophies in his second year.
Additionally, Matthes led the NHL in 5v5 goals so he should be the favorite over everyone to win the Richard, especially when his shooting percentage was sustainable and Laines wasn't. |

Is this garbage for real? or is it just to get a rise out of people? Either way, Tanner needs to go, it's that simple.
If anyone disagrees then speak up, but I doubt there are many of you. Personally I would like to not see that name in the headlines anymore. |
