Well, Roszival isn't playing, right? Good guess.
The pressbox will have an alternate seat for him, becuase you want these kids to develop, just like you want to win games and MAKE the playoffs, and will push hard for the youngsters on the backline to step up, and he has experience, his biggest attribute. I doubt he makes the 50 minute drive to the Potato Statue in O'Leary, PIE...

- wiz1901

Wiz what would have been a better option at 1 MIL? assuming that is about what he gets?

also article about Pokka said he is in the best shape of his life and was finally able to train in the off season.

This may be a dumb question but for Preseason games can you dress more then 20 guys?

If Duchene is a real possibility for the Hawks for a package of prospects, the Hawks need to make this move. a top six mix that includes him makes them significantly better.

forget his +/- #'s on a terrible team. you would have to believe going to a team like the Hawks would bring the best out of him.

like his speed, his face-off skills, and his ability to play the PK. this would be a BIG move that would change the dynamic of this team significantly. don't know what the Hawks would have to give though to make this work.

HAWKS HAVE TO GO ALL IN NOW. I still don't see them rebuilding for quite some time with Kane/Toews only 29 years old.

is this the complete list? Forwards (32) and only 15 listed. Is that 15 of 32 forwards in camp in this game?

Good lineup to compare players competing for spots on the roster.

CBJ 10 Hawks 0

Debrincat fails to register a shot on net and gets completely manhandled.

I watched about 20 Sabres games last year, and I want zero part of Franson.

The only reason this guy has value is because he's been gifted PP time and put up a handful of points in the last 5 years. He is a liability in every other part of the ice.

The Sabres aren't a defensively deep team, and they let him walk. He was a 4-6 defender on that team and would get turnstiled game after game.

Us Blackhawk fans are pretty critical, because we've come to expect a level of general good decision making and positional ability. Franson does not do fundamentals well. He's another big boy who doesn't play the body.

He will be roasted on this board and by Quenneville if we sign him. Unless he's signing an absolute minimum contract I do not want him on this team.

Hopefully Franson signs for $1,000,000 or less and can be fully buried in Rockford if needed.

Haha. So many people dogging the Hawks and assuming they'll get smoked by the Jackets.

Why is everyone so negative?

Is it possible that all the ADB hype is to raise his value in Sakic's eyes
- vabeachbear

I seriously question if there is a great deal of hype. Those in the industry/scouts, GM's, for example, are not surprised and would probably tell you that ADB not garnering a fair amount of points at traverse City would have been surprising. All you have it a glorified version of rat hockey, with the best non pro's whom have lots of development remaining.

The eye test comes in how well he competes against larger players at a faster pace. His skill is real but how he shakes out against men in exhibitions and the AHL is the real storyline.

Playing with Kane and Schmaultz is fine and dandy but is more just to acclimate him to what it is like having such talented linemates. Playing in exhibition games is more about opening the kid's eyes to the defensive responsibilities and getting a feel for how gaps open and close faster. There are many on the board whom could go deeper into this and have a better working knowledge than myself of the transition from junior to NHL camp.

The so called hype is purely fan and media drive.

Seriously it is Pokka time. That AHL experience and the World Cup-experience, too, gives him a leg up. But how mistake free is he? That is going to be Q's major concern

Pokke is an all around purpose man who plays some pp and can carry the puck but certainly no magician. Smooth euro whom actually is not as good a skater as you expected. Would Q go for him or Gus? Just cross off Svedberg if he is even here.

While on the blue line...

This is nothing against him, because I think he's a good guy, but why is Rozy still on the roster?

It's been time to hang them up for a little while now. I totally get that he wants to keep playing and a team is willing to let him, but with the decline in play, injuries, etc., at what point do you call it?

Eventually, you have to step aside and give the young dudes a shot, otherwise you're taking away a spot and time that can be given to a guy to develop.

I was just goofing around. But seriously, since the game is in Columbus the Jackets will ice a more experienced team and Q has already hinted that the Hawks are sending mostly rookies.

The outcome of the game isn't important, what is important is the individual performance of a couple youngsters (i.e. Hayden, Debrincat).

He will be a factor tonight, mark it down. Hawks could use a guy like this, big guy not afraid to lay the body. If he plays all 82 games he'll end up Top 5 in hits and has enough offensive game to be far more than a fourth line banger. He looked quicker-a-foot in the camp clips I saw which really was his only true weakness. If he's faster, we have a legit power forward on our hands.

He's certainly the type of player the Hawks need and that we talk about every season--which is big and physical--the bonus being that he looks like he has some skill that can be tapped into.

It's probably that they want him to stay with Kane and see if there's something there. Players not on the trip are still going to be practicing - DeBrincat-Anisimov-Kane are together at line rushes now.
