I can see Hagg/Ghost as a possible regular season pair. Other teams may be gunning for Provorov now, it wouldn't shock me to he get some time with Morin as his partner/bodyguard. AMac/Gudas would be a solid vet pair. You could always go with Provy/Gudas and Morin/AMac as well.

But see, you're using "logic" and sense here. Sadly, I think we're in for another year of Provorov/AMac against other team's top lines.

Watched a bit of team two just now. Simmonds already looks in midseason form. Gudas with some nice defensive plays too. Didn't get to see Patrick do too much unfortunately.(one of Gudas' nice breakups was against him)

NONE SHALL PASS PROVOROV

* With almost machine-like precision, Ivan Provorov thwarted attackers in drills off the rush. They couldn't go wide on him, nor could they muscle past him to move inside the dots. There's a good reason why he won the Barry Ashbee Trophy last season and led the defense in ice time. The scariest part with Provorov is that he's still only scratched the surface of his talents.

I called several people with glee when I watched Hextall draft him.

Thanks Bill. Any new updates on Stolarz? Any indications that the team is starting to wonder about his durability?

Saw Stolie today. On crutches for now. No timetable set at this point.

I give Hart a 0.0000000000000000001% chance of making this roster. Next year all bets are off. AND NO I AM NOT EK!

Next year Elliot and Neuvy will have 1 year left on their deal which will make them easier to trade. Lyon or Stolie can be more easily passed next year. Hart can't go back to Everett next year so it's LHV or PHI.

- dragonoffrost

he won't be 21 either, i don't think, so he can't go to the ahl either AFAIK.

as long as they turn 20 by the end of that calendar year they can play in the AHL. He will be AHL eligible next year, and he turns 20 right before the season starts

yeah? i could have sworn it was 21...but i hope you're right. assuming that's right, he'll be a phantom next year, and i'd expect a flyer the next. unless of course we get a pit/murray situation where he gets called up toward the end of the year and wins the goddamn cup.

i think vorobyev could be cracking that list sooner than projected. there is a real wealth of talent/depth here. not all of it will pan out, but they won't need it all anyway...some will likely get traded for future picks, which is the best we can hope for with an overflow.

i've been saying 2019 for a few years now, and i still believe that's where we see this team really take off. the window for winning will be wide.

There are couple of 20 year olds on the Phantoms this season - Vorobyev and Myers.

Technically, Twarynski could play in the AHL if he was under contract because he's a November birthday and the cutoff for turning 20 is December 31st. But even if he had been signed to an ELC, a 4th year in the WHL would be better for his development.

Stamkos wasn't ready to return 5 months after his surgery, so given that Hextall has talked about taking every precaution I would guess Stolarz might not play till March at the earliest. And if they get to March without him playing I won't be surprised if they do what they did with Ghost in 2015 and shut him down for the season.

If anyone wants a crash course in the meniscus this video from a goalie coach is worth watching. There are actually two menisci in each knee - medial and lateral.

If it was a simple meniscus tear he would likely be back and playing before Thanksgiving. Theres probably a lot more going on right now. Hexy saying he is month to month is also telling IMO.

My prediction is that if he plays again this year he really struggles and ends up having another issue, but with that being said, I dont think he says a game this year.

I got a crash course from a doc about a year ago on the whole knee structure. It's amazing how many parts there are in there and that each one has a purpose that the others might help with but aren't really doing the same thing.

Can you give an example of an NHL player who returned in that time period from meniscal repair surgery?

Mason in 2008, Gudas in 2015 and Stamkos in 2016 all missed four months or more.

I think his point is that the injury was a bad one and he won't be back soon.
