Do I go to practice on my lunch break or Wawa? The Gobbler is back after all...

It really is. When guys like Frost, Sandstrom, Ratcliffe, Allison, Bunnamon, Vorobyev, Friedman and Laberge can't crack the top 10 list, life is indeed good!
- BiggE

i think vorobyev could be cracking that list sooner than projected. there is a real wealth of talent/depth here. not all of it will pan out, but they won't need it all anyway...some will likely get traded for future picks, which is the best we can hope for with an overflow.

i've been saying 2019 for a few years now, and i still believe that's where we see this team really take off. the window for winning will be wide.

Boy, I wish we had WAWAs out here. Hoagie on a hotdog roll is pathetic

Thanks Bill. Any new updates on Stolarz? Any indications that the team is starting to wonder about his durability?

I was going to say you are stuck with the Sheetz

Yeah, we have those also. Yes, Primo's opened last year and there is a local place called the Steakout ( west philly guys own it ) that have amoroso rolls.
But for the most part out here, if you describe bread as 'crusty', they think it must be stale ( I'm a Cherry Hill/Mt Laurel transplant, by the way)

I wish. There are 7-11's but mostly (especially in the boroughs) the local corner bodegas reign supreme.

Sheetz is a perfectly acceptable substitute when Wawa is unavailable. Don't let the snobs/haters tell you otherwise. lol

I was wondering about this before Ek started his daily shenanigans, but what would it take for Hart to make the team? I think these would have to all happen:

1. One (or both) of Elliott/Neuvirth are injured long-term or are absolutely putrid (like, Martin Houle putrid) in preseason.
2. Alex Lyon isn't terrible, but very "meh" in preseason.
3. Hart plays like Patrick Roy throughout the preseason.

Stolarz would have been the 3rd stringer guy this year, but I think Hart has a small, very small, chance to make it now that he's hurt.

I give Hart a 0.0000000000000000001% chance of making this roster. Next year all bets are off. AND NO I AM NOT EK!

Next year Elliot and Neuvy will have 1 year left on their deal which will make them easier to trade. Lyon or Stolie can be more easily passed next year. Hart can't go back to Everett next year so it's LHV or PHI.

It's early but my initial thoughts on each line combo:

Lindblom-Giroux-Konecny
Love this combo to kick things off. Hopefully Giroux soaks up some energy from the fountain of youth.

Weise-Couturier-Voracek
Weise and Couturier together were very strong down the stretch. I would think Voracek will only upgrade what Schenn contributed to the line.

Weal-Patrick-Simmonds
Gives Patrick 2 guys with speed who can put the puck in the net. Also some protection with Simmonds on his wing.

Raffl-Laughton-Read
No more excuses for Laughton. Strong insulation on his wings with 2 of, if not the best defensive wingers on the team.

Bardreau-Filppula-Lehtera
Clear message that their spots aren't safe, even with a combined cap hit of 10 million. Makes sense considering how hard I've struggled to envision where they fit in.

Not bad ideas.

I'm still thinking of Weal-Filp-Simmer might also be tried again if Simmer isn't with TK and G. Since they seemed to get on a roll late last year.

We could see:

Lindbolm-Giroux-Konecny
Weise-Couturier-Voracek
Weal-Filpula-Simmonds
Raffl-Patrick-Read
Bardreau-Laughton-Lehtera

HOLY CRAP HOW DID I PUT PATRICK ON LINE 4!

Those keep the second and third lines that seemed to work together with Voracek replacing Schenn

G needs a enema... well at least some new wings.

Defense I think is a little easier:

Provorov-MacDonald
Gudas-Hagg
Morin-Gostisbehere
Manning
Sanheim-Myers #1 pair in LHV

Filppula and Lehtera before Laughton and Read.

Yep, I think 19-20 is when they become a contender, but I think they will win a round or 2 in the 19 playoffs and announce that the Flyers we know and love have returned.

Just in case we're misunderstanding each other, those are the actual Day 1 training camp lines. I also like what's happening on D as each rookie is paired with a vet. Like to see Gudas with someone better than Brennan but can't complain for the most part.

Provorov-Sanheim
Morin-Macdonald
Hagg-Gostisbehere
Brennan-Gudas
Manning-Myers

I can see Hagg/Ghost as a possible regular season pair. Other teams may be gunning for Provorov now, it wouldn't shock me to he get some time with Morin as his partner/bodyguard. AMac/Gudas would be a solid vet pair. You could always go with Provy/Gudas and Morin/AMac as well.
