The abundance of top quality youth in the Flyers system is at a level that I've never seen before, and I've been following the team since the early 70s. I was trying to come up with a top 10 list of prospects and current roster players under the age of 21 and honestly, it wasn't easy. A lot of very good prospects aren't even on the list!

1. Provorov D
No brainer here, when you establish yourself as a top pair guy at age 20, that's just phenomenal and he looks to be an all situations #1 franchise Dman. Love this kid!

2. Patrick C
His potential and the fact that he plays the more vital position, gives Patrick the slight edge over Konecny for the 2nd spot on this list. Finally, some luck went the Flyers way!

3. Konecny RW/LW
Had a great rookie year for a 19 year old kid. I look for a lot more in year 2.

4. Sanheim D
His skating is NHL elite and he's really filled out his 6'4 frame. He has legit top pairing potential and could top out as a #1 Dman.

5. Myers D
His health has been an issue in the past, but if he can get past the injury bug, he has all the makings of being the Flyers 3rd top pair Dman in the system.

6. Rubtsov C
Great wheels and great smarts is a lethal combo and this kid has it. He's also blessed with great hands and once he fills out, he will be a top 6 and potentially top line player.

7. Lindblom LW
His skating, which was an issue when he was drafted, looked fine to me the other night. Add to that his strength, smarts and good hands, and you have a steal for Ron Hextall in the 5th round.

8. Carter Hart G
Looked great in the rookie game. His positional awareness was very good and he's just lightning quick. Has the tools to finally give the Flyers a franchise starting goalie which they haven't had since Hextall's first stint with the team.

9. Robert Hagg D
Really seemed to put it all together for the Phantoms last year and looked very composed and smooth in his one NHL game. He doesn't truly excel at any one facet of the game, but he just does everything very well. Should be a very good 2nd pair NHL Dman for many years to come.

10. Sam Morin D
His strength is obvious, but what really impressed me in the rookie game was his poise with the puck on his stick, his positional play and his discipline. Flyers goalies are going to love him as will the rest of the PK unit. He could end up being the guy you put on the ice with Provorov in the last minute of the game to lock down a victory.

So there you have it. Good lord, a guy we took in the 1st round last year, Morgan Frost, isn't even on the list!! Heck a guy like Frost just 2 years ago would have been top 5 and 3 years ago, top 3. The depth that Hextall has acquired in the system is just amazing.

It really is. When guys like Frost, Sandstrom, Ratcliffe, Allison, Bunnamon, Vorobyev, Friedman and Laberge can't crack the top 10 list, life is indeed good!

I am pretty excited to see Lindblom and of course Patrick in preseason, but what I saw from Vorobyev I likey very much. If he shows he can be a general against the big boys like he was in the rookie game then I am calling the cops.

Anyone know how Sanheim's looked so far?

Just OK. Well, very good with puck, adventurous without it. But it is early and he improved a lot defensively last season.

I thought it was a good sign seeing how often he was involved in scrums in front of the net. Do you happen to know if he is a yapper on the ice?

Sanheim played with a snarl in the rookie game. I've never seen him play and didn't expect it. Not like Morin, where players didn't want to go into corners with, but Sanheim played with pretty good edge and nice offensive jump too.

Thanks Bill. Any new updates on Stolarz? Any indications that the team is starting to wonder about his durability?
