Better distribution of talent.
More risk involved in signing young players as team will have to outbid each other for their services, but will have to be careful how much they spend on everything because they may spend themselves out of being able to acquire better talent in the future.
Better for young guys, harder on unproductive vets.
Eliminates all motivation for tanking.

I think you are starting to find that now - young guys getter paid more earlier & the older vets looking at min salary to play. The way the contracts are being handled is definitely changing & the big thank you contracts (ie: Seabrook), are less & less. I think organisations are trying to limit the damage with the young guys, but they are still being paid more in my opinion.
Is it the young guys getting more opportunity these days, they are arguably better prepared to play NHL earlier? Getting their numbers up earlier than they would have 10 years ago? |

Dial it back. They're kids and they could regress. That why you don't (frank)ing pay them 8 over 8 with a full NTC/NMC Chiarelli. |
