Carolina's attendance numbers dropped significantly over the past three years, partly because they now report the number of actual butts in the seats as opposed to the number of tickets sold/given away.
They only give away about 300 tickets per night now. It's how they managed to turn a profit for the first time ever in a season where they didn't make the playoffs. - BINGO!
Dude only like 60 people show up. No way they made money.

Anyone else see John Oliver's episode on arena/stadium funding? Fans shouldn't put up with billionaire owners crying about not getting their state of the art arenas built for free. If tax payers are paying for the building, then shouldn't there be some control on ticket prices? I get that these people are running a business, but I really don't think fans should be compelled to resent their governments just because they won't fund a new rink. - mgriffen

no level of government in Canada should be pitching in for an NHL facility. - DoubleDown
Disagree.
The amount of money NHL hockey brings to a city and the surrounding businesses should be accounted for. There is also nothing wrong with having 75 million dollars in players salaries paying taxes, buying houses, cars etc.
They shouldn't fund the entire project but there is a lot to be added to an economy by having an NHL team in the area.

For Russ, I've read some reports saying that Teddy Blueger was shining in some of the pre season games. Do you think it's possible that he could be the Pens 3rd line center to start the season if they don't make a trade?
