I don't think he's good enough with the puck to ever become a puck mover. I feel like his best ability is his ability to limit zone entry
- burn

zone entry is a big thing.

i think it's poor decision making as opposed to poor passing ability.

idk... i have maybe 10 games of patience for him. he's 25 and this his 3rd year under babcock. around the same age guys like gardiner and stralman still improved.

but he needs to prove he's a better player right out of the gate.

If JVR ever scores between his legs, they should lock him up to an 8 year 112mil deal.

If you look at the wingers we have, it makes it hard to match up against the leafs. Even without marleau. Adding marleau makes them even more deadly. If the other 2 lines were so hard to match against then simply adding marleau to the top line keeps those other 2 lines as matchup nightmares, and strengthens the top line.

This seems to make sense to me.

Yes for sure...I'm thinking JVR is gone before long but who knows.

Plus soshnikov is in the mix too. My fear is they bring smith up though.
- bryant

That would be horrible.
Another exciting thing to look forward to when Nylander moves to centre is...Marner and Matthews playing together

I think that's the year the Leafs select Kadri and burkie snag from waiver the goalie from ottawa and numb nuts got a hat trick in the last game of the year to move the the Leafs out of the top 5 to draft.
- zazzle

We ended up with Kadri instead of B Schenn, i'm happy with how it worked out long term

I trust Babcock. I trust the whole management team. It feels weird and wrong, but i trust them nonetheless.

I just don't see where Leivo fits in this team going forward.

He's not good enough defensively for a shutdown line role. And he doesn't have a complete guy for what the top should look like in a couple of years. Unless we kind of Panik him with Kane and Toews type of thing.

Maybe a 4th line role? He can't kill penalties, so i'd rather not have him there.

He just doesn't offer enough at anything to have a specific role. Maybe he's happy being a bit part player without being able to be sent up and down?

- walshyleafsfan

Being an extra sitting upstairs you get your full salary right? If so, I think Leivo is much more happy getting his fill salary rather then $70,000 playing in the AHL. It would take 10 years of AHL, oppose to making that in one year, just shy of $700,000 sitting upstairs in the NHL. Or maybe in just really high right now and dumb as (frank)!

I agree, I get what you're saying regarding possibly (hope) improve.....

I just think when I see him trying to make a play with the puck it's more about him flubbing it than anything. Maybe it's because he can't get out of his own head and can't decide what to do with it? I just don't think I see him Making poor decisions so much as he's flubbing the play.

But because he's so good at limiting entry, I think that's why babs likes him so much

I think leivo stays as extra forward, kap and sosh go to the Marlies to get enough playing time.

I think kapanen is ready to play in the nhl full time right now, but because of waivers he goes down.

- burn

Can he be sent down even if he's hurt. I don't think so.

Rychel will make the Leafs this season.
He'll eventually be a player lots of people will like, he might even be paired with Nylander if he switches to center.

Matthews has his Hyman, Nylander his Rychel.

Just a little something from the POPE...(couldn't post the link, it's from and SBports site. )

"His Holiness Pope Francis was pleased to learn that an international group of hockey organizations has chosen formally to adopt the Declaration of Principles that emerged from last year's Global Conference on Sport at the Service of Humanity. His Holiness trusts that this significant gesture will inspire greater appreciation for the pivotal role played by sports and sportsmanship in training future generations to pursue personal excellence and to promote the spiritual values of teamwork, solidarity and mutual respect so necessary for the building of a more just and fraternal world."

If Hyman stays on Matthews wing, what about

Marleau-Kadri-Marner?

Brown can take Marner's spot with jvr and Bozak

Maybe Leafs can ice 2 teams? no need for further expansion 32 in league and that's it. One in West, one in East.

TEAM 1:

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Marleau - Kadri - Komarov
Rychel - Moore - Soshnikov
Clune - Gauthier - Grundstrom

TEAM 2:
JVR - Nylander - Brown
Kapanen - Bozak - Leivo
Martin - Fehr - Lindberg
McLaren - Greening - Orr

both teams still better than Vancouver

I doubt this.
Rychel may see a few games, but will most likely be an AHL'er this year.

This + less seats in the arena and no Karlsson to begin the season.

The Sens are ON A ROLL!
