Just in case anyone's interested over on the flyer thread their saying Claude giroux didn't have that bad a year last year and they expect him to rebound and have a 50-60 point year.
- Bobd62

So he's going to rebound and finish with approximately the same point total he finished with last year?

Question.... would you consider a player(forward) an elite player if he scores 50 points 5 on5 ?

We can laugh at the Flyers, but I think they get in the playoffs this year and stay there for many years to come, then Carolina joins them for a whole bunch of years. The Devils stay as Edmonton east without the generationalness.

I know this is a bit of a cop-out, but I wouldn't consider any player anything based on a body of work that consists of only one season.

But 50pts 5v5 is pretty solid, I would assume that would (usually) mean that they finished with around 70pts or so, which is pretty damn good.

I don't think Giroux is on his way out just yet, I think last year was a dip and he'll bounce back, to a certain degree. I don't think he's a league-leading point producer anymore though.

Steve Mason was a monster goalie "5 on 5" for many years, I heard it constantly from Flyer fans

apparently it doesn't matter to Flyer fans that goalies should make saves killing penalties too

I'm just tired of philly and pens guys bashing the rangers. Pitt dumped for years and NHL rigged the draft when they got Crosby and the fabulous flyer prospect pool is just that full of prospects. Ghost is good but unless they have a quality goaltending prospect in their system they will continue to be a fringe team at best imho.

Ryan Kennedy‏ @THNRyanKennedy 10s10 seconds ago

L.A. Kings first-rounder and guaranteed future Hall of Famer Gabe Vilardi will miss rookie camp and training camp due to a back sprain that flared up in the summer

Not going to help his skating. Back problems at such a young age are not a good sign.

Certainly bad news for Mr. Sakic. Another strong suitor down and now CBJ has the inside track and a lot of leverage. I guess CAR still in the mix for Duchene, but seems like CBJ is now the best bet.

If Columbus is dealing Ryan Murray, I think Duchene is going to Columbus. Though I do think COL is holding out in hopes Francis softens his stance on trading Hanifin.

I was wondering what day Joe Thornton would become a Ranger.
