Doan is 40 years old, Sedins are currently 36. Doan did also get a 1 year deal after his big 4 year deal 20M+ dollar deal ended(he was coming off of a pretty solid season though). If I had to place a bet, I'd wager that that the Sedins will both sign for 1 more year.

I'm aware...point still remains that Doan was 40 before the Yotes finally kicked him to the curb. And before you bring it up, I know he scored more goals than the Sedins, my main point here is that the Sedins being brought back for 1 more year after this is a strong possibility, especially if they have better seasons under Green.

Well that's the reality of the situation. Most management teams(especially old school types) prefer to keep the veteran players/leaders they know rather than let them go and pursue new stopgap vets/leaders when rebuilding/retooling.

And bringing them back for 1 more year at a reduced cost instead of getting stuck with a Eriksson/Ladd/Brouwer type of contract by chasing a UFA vet is going to hurt the team less long-term.

One thing I'll say as a counter point to bringing them back, I do find it confusing/funny that guys like Sutter/Gudbranson/Dorsett were brought in as sold to us as the younger vets to lead the next wave and yet there's talk of the re-signing the Sedins.

Linden/Benning are either just not very bright and change their minds often about the direction of this team...or they flat out spew out bullpoop to the fans/media.
