I dunno. I'm not at all sold on Crawford. Have I seen enough of Franco? Why yes, yes I have. So, I suppose... misgivings aside, that this is precisely the time to put him in the lineup and have a look. - Doc_Sarcasm
Admittedly I'm not as excited for JP as I am for when Kingery eventually gets the call, or flame thrower and my OG boy Sixto Sanchez in a few years. But it'd be nice to see someone play a good 3B and actually get on base playing the position. |

.285/.385/.544 since July. More useful than Franko plus a better fielder. He might not be a game changer out there but he's an upgrade. - Giroux_Is_God
He had a bad abdominal injury too the first few months that sapped his power. He got healthy; he also made a breakthrough batting. That can happen without being written off as a flukey streak.
He won't be a "great" hitter probably, but he's a SS. A good hitting SS with top tier defense is worth its weight in gold. He doesn't have to be Correa. What he is though is an on-base machine who could play fantastically at the top of the order. His eye is insane. And who knows? Late added power is a thing, usually the last thing. Jimmy Rollins can attest to that. |

He has ripped up minor league hitting before too. They just sat him in AAA and let him overcook so hopefully there is a renewed focus once he is called up. As GiG mentioned, he does more than hit too - YuenglingJagr
I think ripped up is a bit of an overstatement. He's never really flirted with .300 let alone .290. If he translates to the majors I see .275/.380/.400. 10-15 HR potential, 65 RBIs. Kind of like a Ceasar Hernandez. Definitely serviceable. Definitely better than Franco, who is not serviceable.
The way I look at it is when you bangers like Kingery, Hoskins, Altherr and Williams, all with 25 HR, 75+ RBI potential, you want guys like JP in there with good OBPs. He might not mash but his keen eye and plus fielding make him a piece worth getting semi-excited about |

You just want to look cool by saying Rhys Hoskins will be a below average 1B.

As I said, I bet he fits at 3rd on this team. His arm can handle it and I think Galvis is here for a while with his gold glove caliber defense. |

I kind of forgot about him because he was an original draft pick of another team...so way untouchable...but I believe he was also pretty young for each level as well. That is part of the reason the power can develop later |

That would have been ideal but they couldn't get Mason under contract for either the years or price they could agree on so they kinda had to sign Neuvirth or expose Stolarz. Once they were stuck with Neuvirth they had to sign an experienced tandem guy... enter Elliott.
I'm not thrilled but who knows what happens once the season starts. - mayorofangrytown
Could be aight, just reminds me a lot of the Boucher/Leighton/Niitty years. I guess the future does really lie in Sandstrom/Hart in a way.
