Agreed - that's crap. I won't go back to that site.
- Scoob

The site looks like crap too

I probably won't be paying for it but I still, simply, am curious

Phils gave Crawford the call. Surprising, since LV is in the playoffs. Hope he plays 3B so we don't have to see Franko throw his head anymore. JFC

I can't believe we went from the possibility of Mason and Stolarz to Elliot and Neuvirth from the deadline to July 1st.
- SuperSchennBros

I can't believe anyone would presume to be certain that a Mason/Stolarz combo would be better in 17-18 than Elliott/Neuvirth.

http://www.nhl.com/stats/...yed,gte,100&sort=savePctg

Or that the development of the waiver-exempt, 23 year old Stolarz is best served by being an NHL backup instead of an AHL starter.

Didn't Elliot finish the final 3rd of the season really strong last year?

The guy isn't the savior, but he might not be a bad pickup. Mason was the best choice but that ship sailed long ago for whatever reason- really seemed like there were some bridges burned on both sides. I don't think it's much of a secret that there was something going on behind the scenes one way or another.

I'd rather Stolarz play every day in the AHL, myself, as you brought up.

I get what they're trying to do - use "big names" to drum up business for the new venture but it reeks of desperation, imho.
- Scoob

i get it as well. i hope they're successful. just points to the ever changing way in which information is delivered/consumed.

He's hitting what? .270 since his "breakout"? Which boosts his batting average all the way up to.. .243?

I'm thinking he can't hit.

I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah but

If he's behind a pay wall that means I won't have to deal with him, since I'll be on the other side of the wall!

The solution was to go with Mason, and have either Stolarz/Lyon be the back-up.

In a sick way I am curious to see the rage if only one of Hagg/Morin make the big club for the D.

I wanna see dem kids brah.

- flyer_nutter

That would have been ideal but they couldn't get Mason under contract for either the years or price they could agree on so they kinda had to sign Neuvirth or expose Stolarz. Once they were stuck with Neuvirth they had to sign an experienced tandem guy... enter Elliott.

I'm not thrilled but who knows what happens once the season starts.

.285/.385/.544 since July. More useful than Franko plus a better fielder. He might not be a game changer out there but he's an upgrade.

I think the infield in 3 years is Hoskins at first, Kingery at 2nd, Galvis at SS, JP at 3rd. Hernandez traded with someone like Cozens for #2 SP

I think Stolarz would be better served as NHL backup so long as TJ Brennan is on the Phantoms.

Mason/Stolarz would've been the Flyers best goaltending for this season (and probably beyond) However, Elliott/Neuvirth will probably be fine [crosses fingers]

He has ripped up minor league hitting before too. They just sat him in AAA and let him overcook so hopefully there is a renewed focus once he is called up. As GiG mentioned, he does more than hit too

It's happening this month when Philly.com enacts their pay wall.

Means I have to get up early to snag my neighbors paper.

I dunno. I'm not at all sold on Crawford. Have I seen enough of Franco? Why yes, yes I have. So, I suppose... misgivings aside, that this is precisely the time to put him in the lineup and have a look.

That's the silliest complaint ever

If you think the content is of high quality -- and they hired some excellent writers across all sports, not just for hockey -- then you're getting your money's worth. We'll see. But it sounds more like, "I want it for freeeeee!" What business isn't about money? Huh? They have to make a profit and cover their operating costs. I didn't realize people trying to run a business are scammers.
