Charlie Conway was the heart and soul of the original Minneapolis Mighty Ducks and, later, served as both player and assistant coach for Team USA at the Junior Goodwill Games. As a member of the Minneapolis Mighty Ducks, he scored the championship-winning goal on a penalty shot as time expired. - jmatchett383
What made Montreal think trading away a top level D man for a high scoring winger was a good idea. Whether or not Leclair ever turned out to be good or not, I still think the top level defenceman is way more valuable to a team. - WhirlingDervish
That top-level D man, though highly touted, has played a grand total of 4 games in his career.
I don't think it was a good trade by any means (makes me happy though), one has a more proven NHL track record than the other.
In my book, he's absolutely 2nd only to Mark Howe when it comes to ranking the Flyers all time best defensemen. - BiggE
One thing Desjardins did better than any Dman I've seen is generate clutch offense. Even before he got here, he was doing it in MTL. I was in the building when he scored a first round OT goal to beat the Rags in 95 and there are enough other examples. He was uncanny in that department. The guy scored huge goals at a very impressive rate for a Dman. He also did a few little slick, misdirection things with his skating to buy himself some time against checkers that were fun to watch too.

I'm poor, therefore debating it - Giroux_Is_God
Its possible that you might be better served by waiting. If your sports interests are eclectic like mine and you are interested in what is going on in Chicago, Toronto, and the Bay Area... then by all means, go for it.
Right now, they cover 5 US cities and Canada. New York and L.A. are not among the 5 covered US cities, though I'm sure they'll be added at some point. Considering how massive those two sports markets are, they almost HAVE to be added shortly.
I love to hate both L.A. and New York, and I love nothing so much as reading about their respective teams, fans, owners, mascots, WAGs, and then foaming at the mouth over it. I'm possibly looking forward to their coverage. Maybe.
I'm discerning and careful with my money. I'll browse around but probably won't subscribe. I haven't found a sports site that has content worth a subscription.
And now, since Labor day has passed and the air should be getting cooler, here is how I see the NHL standings finishing up for 17-18. I think Bettman will be getting the parity he loves so much.

Rico had only played 4 games prior to the Flyer's trade??? I don't think you're remembering it correctly.(I probably missed something...) - WhirlingDervish
Sorry, thought you were talking about the Sergachev for Drouin trade at the beginning as a reference to how the past Desjardins trade worked out. Sorry, read too deep into it, since you said it was a defenseman for a winger without mentioning that the Flyers also got 2 wingers as well in the Desjardins trade.

Pretty reasonable. Calgary and WPG are a little high points wise imo.
Also I'd like to throw this out there. I quietly have been thinking this is the year Lundkwist begins to get worse. Not saying he'll be bad, but this might be his first good year. His elite years I'd say are 3 yrs gone, and he's been great since then. That team isn't getting any younger or faster, especially at D. If he's only good....NYR will suffer. Muahahaaha

I agree about the Rags, my point predictions are just where I think they will likely finish give or take 5 points. So when I pick the Flyers finishing at 95, that means, barring a slew of critical injuries, that I see them finishing between 91-99 points.
