If Pittsburgh can fit Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang, Fluery etc. all in under the cap and win the Leafs can find a way. They have a ton of space after this year.

You forget Toronto is paying like 1.25 of Kessels salary. They also had real cheap Nick Bonino. They got lucky and won a couple. The same as Chicago did.

Usually you get into cap trouble AFTER you win a cup or 2.

There is no advantage in anoucing a Sedin extension now. They aren't going anywhere. There is no urgency other then to get on with the season.

Maybe if there's some announcement, it's that Sedins will retire as Canucks. Plus there will be positions within the organization when they do.

The decision for Sedins and management to keep playing will be made post FA next summer. At that point all moves that could be made will have happened. Plus evaluations of players/prospects.

And Crosby is the best player in the NHL today.
that helps.

If we are taking JB at his word (which i don't really tbh), then it's good to hear that he'll make a spot on the team if any youngins force his hand, like he did with Stetcher last year.
I too am looking forward to seeing Brock and JV at training camp.
I'd like to see some fisticuffs during training

Camp is going to be exciting, alot of young guys fighting for 2 spots (according to Benning thats all there is)

Hextall believes only 2 rookies of any age on a team at once. So i dont know why lefty and his love for Hextall would want to see as many as possible on the nucks this season.

Yeah it will spill over into regular season where players not bringing it can be replaced by call ups ready and hungry to stick.

quite right.
when you think about it, that's quite an important distinction between him and our 2 best players (yes, i still list them as our best players).

Crosby makes nobody's all-stars.
Sedin's struggle to find the right fit (Burrows being the exception).

I dont want to see as many as possible, but i just dont want a rookie who is playing better then a forward at camp but not make the team, like Stecher last year, and honestly last year i though Labate had one of the better camps for forwards but didnt get to stay.

Does that mean you'd watch the games??

If JV and BB make the team and the Sedin's are resigned for one year?
Then what say you?

2 rookies at a time is as much as i'd be comfortable with as well. Preferably one at forward and one at D.

LaBate also kind of sucked after when he was called up. See a bunch of players come in have a good camp then suck. JV and McCann come to mind. If they belong they can go to Utica, when injuries happen, be called up and then show they belong. Just like Stecher did.

Will be good to recall this when kids are sent to Utica after a strong preseason (JV and Brock )

True, but my point is because Vanek is signed, if Goldobin plays better then him, he will still be the one sent down if Boeser and Virtanen show better then him. The big issue i had last camp was Larsen over Stecher, and stecher was waaay better,if the injuries didnt happen he would of been in the AHL longer while Larsen was playing terrible.

I thought that Stetcher/Larsen thing played out perfectly myself.
Injuries always happen. you can take that to the bank.

Even if not super serious injuries, there will always be opportunities to sit those struggling and bring up the kids that are excelling.

I think Brock is well ahead of a lot of the forwards. JV, another season in Utica. Call ups and when spots open up end of the year. Its Goldy who is the question mark for me. Has the skill but effort level to play both ways and battle. Boucher is another. Show up in better shape and improved skating. Maybe he gets to stick around.
