Hey in this article that was posted a few pages back...

http://thehockeywriters.c...vers-prospects-at-centre/

It points out that Pettersson hasnt been playing centre much lately. Not sure if he's expected to either this season.
I wonder if Gaudette would be a good centerman for Dahlen & Pettersson - that might be pretty lethal a few years down the road.

- Brooks_Light

I mentioned on here a while ago that being a true centre in the NHL is difficult because of the work load. It is the toughest position to play by far. Thats why guys like Granlund have shown better success on the wing. True #1 NHL centres are hard to come by.

Yeah he's fast, good shooter, can make plays, and is physical, could open up space for the Swedes.

Even tho Bo isn't considered 1C, if Bo, Boeser, Sven/Granlund were 1st then with Gaudette, Dahlen, Pettersson as the 2nd line - it would be pretty deadly and balanced - kinda like Minnesota's top 2 lines.

Then Gadjovich, Lind, McEwen and Virtanen in a bottom 6 physical role and Goldy, Molino or Lockwood to provide skill/speed - its something to possibly look forward to.

- Brooks_Light

Not to bag on this, as it would be nice if all the draftees worked out, but the odds are next to zilch.

that 1st line is more like a 2nd line imo.

You know if they can cut some deadweight, Sutter, they can sign Tavares, Turris and Kane next summer for 25 million

Yes I'd read it before, that puts out a bunch of garbage, don't read anything into that. Pettersson was drafted to play center, wing is easier to play, that's all. He's young playing against men.
- LeftCoaster

Yeah no kidden, when they say Gaunce is 3rd line C, its hard to continue reading. But it is true that Pettersson has only played wing in the last two tournaments. Hopefully, he'll get time at C during the upcoming Vaxjo season.

Casey Mittlestadt has all his skill... possibly more and 200 pounds of it.

I would make one tweak . Boeser Bo Granlund. Granlund is more of a play maker than Bo or Sven

I know you said Sven or Granlund , I think it needs to be Granlund

SHL kids rarely play C at the start. All in good time.
I'm pretty excited with our winger depth & their scoring ability.
At C we will need patience. Get our D to click would be my expectations this season.

That's still a pretty questionable top line.
A bit soft at this stage.
Maybe in 2-3 years if everyone progresses.
Otherwise more of 2nd line (behind the eternal Sedin's)

Yeah I know, the lines I posted are more of a pipe dream in terms of hoping they work out BUT they're what we have to work with as of now. And the chances of getting a legit 1C in FA are unlikely so......

I agree, those first two lines are more like 2nd lines, but regardless, they are 6 extremely talented players that could carve out the future of this franchise. I'd love to have a McD or Matthews but unless a miracle happens in the next two drafts, I don't see it happening, so rather than wishing for a "saviour" - it has to be about building the best possible team.

By soft do you mean no grit because Sedin Sedin Granlund are not heavyweights

If they have a really good year they'll most certainly be extended a year
- LeftCoaster

If they have a mediocre year they'll still be extended a year. Benning and Linden are incapable of BS. If they say the Sedins are Canucks for as long as they want, they're Canucks for as long as they want.
