Powers suggested Rosi isn't 100%, could be we don't have the full story there. Maybe Rosi's played his last game already.
- walleyeb1

Rozy was never an option to see any amount of playing time. Its just a reason for people to complain.

He was the cheapest and easiest way for the Hawks to meet ED requirements.

And those crap teams needed him to be a 2-4D, where here he'd be a 5-6D. Who else did people here think they could get on Day 2 of the season when they are over the cap as we speak? Apparently, he has turned down several one year deals to take a PTO with the Hawks. That tells me he has a handshake deal to sign when Hossa is put on LTIR. We'll see.
- hawks2010

They aren't over the cap. You have a link for those several one year contracts he turned down?

Nashville wanted him to be a 5-6 D-man a couple of seasons ago. They benched him.

Well, they could have had Franson for free and not cost them anything. Interesting.
- TTtime

They like TVR's mobility. Canes D is all about pressure in the neutral zone. They figured TVR was a good option to be a steady #5-6 guy for several years due to his age.

Franson would instantly be the 3rd or 4th oldest guy on the team and his footspeed isn't at the same level.

He can be effective, but not a great fit for the kind of high-pressure system the Canes play.

Beginning to sound like he may be heading to LTIR.

Point being that Franson is free, yes, but also kinda slow. If your team is going to focus more on positioning, he can be okay, but he really is a last resort type guy.

Franson had one-year offers elsewhere, decided on PTO with #Blackhawks...

This was the same guy who broke that Franson was signing the PTO.

Put Franson with Forsling or Kempny on the 3rd pair and it's an upgrade over what the Hawks have had for the last 3+ years, IMO.

Exactly right! Franson has always been on awful teams where he played the 3/4D role. Cannot wait for Tanner's reaction to Franson signing with the Hawks He LOVES Franson, but resents the Hawks with a passion

Again, the fact that it isn't even a guaranteed contract but a Professional Try Out is perfect. Let him prove that he's better than the guys currently under contract. I'm willing to be he will be in the Top 6 D opening night.

Wow Franson generates different opinions on the hockey buzz boards. From very underrated to being garbage. I like the thought of another vet but not thrilled with his lack of speed . Thought thissummer the Hawks were trying to become faster and tougher to play against. Franson does neither

Been told UFA Cody Franson is down to Edmonton or Chicago. Vancouver never called.

He is going to the Hawks training camp on a PTO.

Cody Franson has signed a PTO with the #Blackhawks, I’m told.

There you have it. PTO until day 2 and then contract?

Ditto to that. Btw, Bingo, thanks for your thoughts on where Lindholm will play. The Canes have a good top 6-7.

If Franson is getting top 6 minutes in Chicago by midseason, I would expect the Hawks to be sellers for the first time in several years at the deadline.

yes. yes. yes.

give the guy a chance. clearly the Hawks see a potential bargain buy. when was the last time Franson played on a playoff team? Nashville back in 2010? playing with better players and better coaching might help a guy like franson. also gives more time for rutta/forsling to develop while the back end is stabilized.

and he cannot be slower than 'roszival slow'....

Timo, roz runblad, sved, Gus have all gotten bottom pairing mins and we were still fine. how do you feel about 5-7 being pokka, Forsling, Jordan O and Rutta?

I'd rather go through youthful growing pains with the hope that it will improve over time, than have a steaming pile of crap like Franson.

So a guy with no credibility at all and no one knows a thing about until a day ago?

Seems legit to me. Or maybe his agent put that out there. I am going with the latter.
Franson has always over-valued his worth. I doubt it has changed suddenly.

Nash traded for him two seasons ago and didn't use him in the playoffs. In fact, they benched him before the end of the season to play Yannick Weber.

Absolutely Rosi was more of an pre expansion deal to qualify and maybe he now goes on IR or on his way to his job as translator...

For those who think Seabrook is not a good skater, ha! he is gonna look more like a pretty good fluid one next to Franson.
