Meh, we will see. We certainly have more depth this year....lol.

One thing I would argue is that hockey writers always tend to focus on the select few forwards who are likely to take a step back as opposed to the large group that could conceivably take a step forward.

Regress or stay the same:
H, Sedin.
D, Sedin.
Eriksson (though could he really do any worse?)
Gagne.
Sutter (generally pretty consistent when healthy)

Players who could likely improve point totals or push for spots.
Bo.
Sven.
Granlund.
Boeser.
Goldobin.
Virtanen.
Dahlen.

We won't make the playoffs by any means, but I do believe we score at a much better rate this season.

The issue, in my opinion, is that very few of those prospects have the potential to be true difference-makers. Horvat and Boeser both project as legit NHLers (Horvat already is), but not superstars. More likely nice second-line pieces

The rest will be fortunate to carve out careers at all

It's a superstar-driven league. Pittsburgh won a cup with the shakiest d-corps I've ever seen, because they've got Sid and Geno

One Sid, Kane, McDavid, Matthews, Karlsson, etc, is worth 20 Bo Horvats. No offense to Horvat - very decent player - but it's the truth

The Canucks...they're pretty much dog poop in all positions and that includes prospect chart.

Yep, but there's hope.

As the Leafs and Oilers have demonstrated, we are simply one lottery win away from contention

Vegas....worst collection of forwards in over 20 years in my opinion. Honorable mention to Vancouver and NJ.

You could say that about every team until they drafted one of those players, we just have to wait our turn. When it happens, they'll be a nice group of complimentary forwards and D to go with that superstar...just like what happened in Toronto.

lol....be smart Todd and don't group yourself into the likes of Tanner on here.

Vegas is brutal considering what was available in the expansion draft. You can certainly make an argument that COL/NJ and even DET are worse than Van.

Van has added Gagner and potentially Vanek who they are actively pursuing. Eriksson and the Sedins could bounce back a bit. A tad unfair for French to say how great Zetterberg is when Sedins have been over 105 pts over the past few seasons and Zetterberg is only at 118 for the past two. Very minor difference.

Van is in the bottom 5 for potential forward output yes but look at the intangibles before you go all Tanner on us...

The really sad part...

We'd be fighting for top-spot on the list of the NHL's worst defense and goaltending too!

Detroit has way bigger cap issues, but I don't think their forward group is worse than Vancouver going forward.
