Maybe I am too optimistic but i don't think it will be long into the season for you to see a Provorov/Hagg top pair. Just think when it's all said and done you'll see something like below..unless there is a move made or Sanheim and Myers knock a defender out of the lineup.

Provorov - Hagg
MacDonald - Gudas
Morin - Gostisbehere
Manning

- J35Bacher

Yes and if Sanheim or Myers proves better they slot in and the Vet who gets beat gets to ride a bus. It's really a win-win for the Flyers right now.

You're awfully optimistic about Hagg. How come?

Hagg has been projected to be an all situations D man. So putting him with Provy isn't a bad idea. IF HE EARNS IT.

I don't know if that's needed.

I think Hextall and the Flyers have been very clear that kids need to earn spots.

- J35Bacher

That's true, should be enough motivation with 2 spots open for 4 potential candidates. Brennan could also fill the #7 press box role if absolutely required.

In a way Hagg plays the game like Provorov. Maybe not as offensive but brings a two way game. He also is a positional guy. Maybe not dynamic but solid. Someone who you can play against top lines.

His draft year he was a 1st round pick talent. Lots of people thought the Flyers got a pretty good steal in the 2nd round.

I'm not the person you aimed this at, but I've gotten an impression from folks that have watched Hagg and have written about him (I think Bill is one of them) that he is the kind of player that would actually benefit from the greater structure you see at the NHL level.

So, I kinda understand the quiet optimism about Hagg.

If MacDonald is in the starting 6, I will quietly sob now and again.

If both MacDonald AND Manning are, I will hurl myself off a bridge. If by some miracle I survive, gently pick my crushed body up and hurl me off again. Repeat as needed.

His last name starts with the same letter as Hjalmarsson, and he comes from the same country.

Thanks dragonoffrost, J35Bacher and johndewar. The good news is we'll see all these guys in exe games and should have a better idea where they're at.

My somewhat under the radar guy is Rubtsov who I hope to see some exe game action from as well but don't expect him to make the team.

It's nice to finally have some excitement. There are legit guys in the system now.

I am actually eager to see more of Mark Friedman. Doesn't get talked about much but could surprise. Brings an offensive game but also has a little edge to it.

Also will be fun to keep an eye on guys like ratcliff, Strome and Allison.

Trust me I don't want to see TweedleDee and TweedleDum anywhere near our blue line this year but if it has to be so be it.

I wouldn't mind if MacDonald played great. Just means better things for the Flyers and also maybe he gets some trade value in case a team loses a defender to injury

Every day is a day closer. We could be, and hopefully are, going to get the biggest youth injection in one shot since 84-85. If this season goes half as well as that one did, I'll be a happy fan this year.

It is so nice to have the stock of prospects at every position and even varying styles of play at the same position. Imagine how crazy it could be if the prospects all make it. I'll include Ghost, Provy and Konecny for this statement as still part of the team as the prospects come to be the core of the team.

I would love it if MacDonald played great. If he is able to play at the same level as guys like Subban or Doughty, that would make me very happy.

I don't really see that happening.

Yeah, I didn't realize 17 yr old girls run these teams' Twitters. That was the most painfully basic exchange I've witnessed in a while

Yeah, I didn't really see the #sickburn on either side. Although I did appreciate the use of MS Paint.

Saying Manning or AMac will outplay all the rookies that are capable of playing in the NHL already just seems lazy. Especially when talking about a veteran on a PTO. It isn't like we have never seen these guys play or even seen them in preseason/camp. They are more skilled, professionally experienced, have mature bodies.

I just can't see what I have seen from both the prospects and the veterans to think that it is a remote possibility they aren't good enough to make the team. I know if they do get sent back to the AHL or if the Flyers do end up signing a vet to a PTO that is the narrative that will be repeated.
