I have a different opinion of what you're trying to do there. It's obvious.

I'm just thinking that we view players like AMac and Manning's abilities quite differently.

Obviously since you view Manning as at best a 7th and I think he can be a 6th. The bottom line is if you weren't actually interested in discussing it, your comment was unnecessary.

Dear Lord, are we really going to argue about whether Manning is a 6 or 7? Really??

How bout this: Manning won't be in their top 6 when they are a contender.

Case closed.

It's just turned September give them a break. The real fun comes when we argue why Laughton is still around after another blah training camp.

There were Chris Vandevelde arguments that lasted FOR DAYS in this forum.

I can totally see Manning being that guy who is not pivotal to the success of the team, has a small role, yet we argue about like he's the (frank)ing lynch pin of success or failure.

I just don't think he should be part of the defense and, if none of our prospects, some of whom have had 2+ seasons in the AHL, are better than him, I'd start to worry about our D prospects panning out.

He's better than guys like Lilja, Karjicek, and Gervais, but I don't see him as anything more than a #7/8 who was forced into a 5/6 role due to a weak team.

The question isn't whether you can improve on Manning as a regular defenseman in the lineup. Of course you can. In my opinion Manning has shown that he is capable of playing a 3rd pair role in the NHL. Also of course we hope that the younger prospects can come in and improve the team over players like Manning and MacDonald. That doesn't change that both are NHL defenseman.

I agree with all of this, and I'll be shocked if he's in the opening day lineup. From all I've seen of both, Hagg and Morin are more than ready to play in the NHL and Sanheim may be too. Gudas, Provorov, and Ghost are locks and AMac will play before Manning so I really don't think there is anything to worry about.

Yeah pretty much, though I think AMac is clearly the better of the 2. I can see AMac, if his contract was reasonable, playing a 3rd pair role on a contender. OTOH, I can't see Manning as ever being more than 7 or 8 on a contender's depth chart.

I am capable of playing a 3rd pair role in the NHL. Not well, but since I have 2 legs and a working heart, I'm 100% capable of it. I won't be any good, but I'm fully capable.
