I wasn't present for this story but here it goes:
After the 2010 playoffs, my family rented a beach house in Ocean City. Unbeknownst to all of us, Danny Briere happened to have his house directly in front of my family's. We realized this on two occasions. The first was on the beach, when we realized Briere set up his umbrella and beach chairs literally 100 feet from us. We didn't bother him, obviously. The second was when my aunt went out to fetch some out of her car at the same time when Danny Briere was in his driveway (their "backyard" was on the otherside of Briere's "backyard") My cousin's birthday was that week, so my aunt literally got the most papery thing she could find and asked Mr. Briere for an autograph. He asked how old her kid was, but she was in such a hurry, she couldn't remember. He laughed and signed it, and it's become a family lore ever since.
Class-act all the way. He hit his prime at the perfect time with the lockout and everything. |
