What answer are you looking for from me? - SuperSchennBros
The real question is what are you looking for from us?
I'm fine with Recchi's number not being retired here but I'm gonna give the credit to Mark Recchi none of you want to give. - SuperSchennBros

Hey think whatever you want, I just happen to disagree. - BiggE
You're free to do so but what are you expecting from me? Fedorov was never a Flyer. I wasn't old enough to see Fedorov play live nor did I move to Detroit yet. I gave my reasons as to why I feel highly of Recchi, one was leadership and I'll add that he stayed great in other uniforms. Fedorov wasn't a leader and wasn't very good outside of Detroit. |

Today's topic in the blog was about Recchi and I gave him credit. I wasn't looking for anything. In fact, I didn't even ask for a response. |

Yeah, just to be educated on the ceilings of young players when they're put on display for you. |

Is that up for debate? I would rather debate VDV is an actual NHL talent. I am going with "cause Hakstol says so" for the win. |

Would you call Fedorov or Datsyuk leaders? - SuperSchennBros
During their primes in Detroit, 100% yes. Both of them led by example on the ice, and were probably the 2 most complete players I've ever seen.
I'm not taking anything away from Recchi (although I don't remember him playing on the PK much), just that I don't think he was the most complete player I've ever seen. That's all. You're free to disagree. Nothing personal. |

He's not.
Not sure he'll get the whole season but he should IMHO. That being said, I don't like him but if they make the playoffs I'll give him some due and another training camp. |

I'm also not trying to convince you to come to my side. What I'm saying is, I do disagree that Fedorov was a leader in Detroit. He was overly focused on his very young tennis player girlfriend. He wanted to be "the guy", which showed when he signed an offer sheet from Carolina. When Fedorov finally saw his opportunity to get out of Yzerman 'a shadow, he jumped ship, when he could have waited for Stevie Y to retire. After going to the Ducks, I don't know if it was "new system issues", Fedorov wasn't great anymore. So does Fedorov owe this to Scotty Bowmen? |

I could see him getting fired by Halloween but I could also see him still steering the boat in 2018.
I can't convince myself his coaching ability will have anything to do with it. |

He definitely had a prima donna issue as he got older, when he wanted to cash in. But, as I said, he led on the ice, not in the locker room, during his prime. He actually sacrificed a lot of points to be a better team player, much like Yzerman. After his prime, he was definitely along for the ride. It's sad, because if you watched him on a semi-regular basis in the mid-90s, no one could do what he did over the full 200 feet. |

Not hate. I don't like the way he coaches.
I can easily see him fired this season. They come out of the gate 1-10 or in any way look like they can't hang with the rest of the clubs... he's gone.
It's going to be on the teams performance that he'll be judged and he should be.
By the way, it's not like the team was that many points out of the playoffs. If you think he squeezed every last amount of effort out of that squad last season you may want to go back and look at the season stats. It wasn't a good year for anyone (rookies not included) and that will get a coach fired quickly. |

Boom! And This is fine. If you ask me who had the better career and carried himself better, my answer is Mark Recchi and I won't apologize for it but Fedorov and Datsyuk are known generational talents.
Like, using the example of Pavel Datsyuk. He wasn't a leader because he couldn't speak the language but you could make the argument he led by example on the ice. Keep in mind, I've seen Lidstrom and Datsyuk play live ten times a piece. Datsyuk is the best player I've ever seen in his prime. However, he signed a three year extension and went back to Russia before it began. |

Don't get me wrong, not saying he had a Jack Adams' season but unless theres a better option or things are horrible I cant see Hextall making a change. Time will tell |

I'd be shocked (and someone else brought it to the table first on this page) if the next coach of the Flyers isn't already behind the bench when rookie camp opens. |
