Leivo
Reichel
Kapanen
three guys that Leafs need to find a solution for.
either stick with Bozak and JVR, or still try to move them both for a young good D, and get Rychel and Kapanen in lineup, with Leivo and Fehr in press box.
Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Marleau - Nylander - Brown
Rychel - Kadri - Komarov
Martin - Moore - Kapanen
I personally like alot as a lineup (with Leivo, Fehr easily taking over spots of Rychel / Martin / Kapanen if needed).
Soshnikov I think gets traded as well.
Trade with which team?
I'm not too sure about that..
Still think Pittsburgh is best fit for Bozak (but Pittsburgh has nothing of interest for Toronto), and there are a few teams that could be interested to trade for JVR .. - MaximusAurelius
He will start with the Marlies due to waiver wire pass through.
The other two can be claimed |

I wasn't referring to you. (should have been more explicit)
it was about the 'AMAZING DEAL' type comments..
Brown is a good NHL, basically what's very nice about his story is that he has proven himself to be a legit nhl'er, although drafted in 6th round..
in a redraft, he would surely be drafted in 1st round (15-30).
but there's a few young players of similar age (Rieder for example) on similar contracts, so the 2.1mln is a good deal, but nothing out of the ordinary. - MaximusAurelius
For poops and giggles, I decided to see if your bolded statement above was correct.

What really struck me is the huge drop-off between rounds one and two.
So I'd agree with your statement, but for trolls who gotta troll, there's no doubt that with a time machine, Brown would easily be picked in the second round. |

For the love of God, can we (Leafs Nation) please temper our expectations for Kapanen?
He's played 17 regular season NHL games. 1 goal, no assists.
6 playoff games. 2 goals, no assists.
He's still very young.
Let's hold off on calling him the next Michael Jordan. I've seen how unrealistic expectations play out in Leafland.
(Hint: it doesn't ever go well). |

I have no idea why everybody seems to think that Franson would be a good idea for the Leafs to sign. He is not, and Polak is another bad idea. They are both to bloody slow and on a fast team like the Leafs they would be horribly out of place. The worst thing is that other teams will be able to take advantage of that, who ever they play with will forever be trying to cover for them and it will cost the team on the score sheet, it simply is not worth the trouble. One of the Swedes could possibly be a better answer, or even Nielsen may be a fit on the 3rd pairing, ease him in if he shows enough, Travis Dermott needs more seasoning and playing time he should stay with the Marlies, maybe even Andrew Nielsen for at least one more year. But I do see Borgman possibly making a run at the last D position, I know that Rosen is a little older, but watching the two of them I just see Borgman as the guy that make that leap first. He has a bit of an edge to his game, he is about 25lbs heavier and that may help him clear the front of the net a big easier and better. Now Rosen really can skate and he may be able to move the puck better out of his zone, there is very little that separates these two it will all boil down to what Babcock sees or possibly wants out of his next D man. If he thinks that he has enough D men that move the puck, and he wants more grit he will chose Borgman, and if he likes Rosen's puck moving ability the he may get the chance. The only problem I foresee is if he feels that one of them is ready, who do they play with? Does he play two kids as 3rd pairing Borgman/Rosen with Carrick or does he want a veteran playing alongside the rookie. That is a problem because we only have one of those Hainsey, and Mike said he wanted him on the 1st pairing with Rielly, now we need a top four RHD for the first pairing with Morgan. This would go for any one of the aforementioned LHD men. Therefore Lou just make the damn trade and get us Faulk from the Hurricanes and we can all sleep a lot better, you as well. Funny how it all leads right back to the same answer in the end, it seems as if all roads really do lead to Rome. |

I Agree about the first part, but I think you're off on the part about Dermott and Neilson. Dermott is undoubtedly further along. |
