Yeah, it's especially fun when I have to use it for work. Any government jobs we do have to have EVERYTHING on the drawings labelled in both English and French.
Pain is the ass.

Seems odd. Figure they would just do it for anything in French speaking provinces.

I was pretty good in my 30's. I'm lucky I survived my late teens and early 20's though.

A drawback of having 2 official languages.

That explains it. Wasn't sure if French was considered an official language.

Not wishing the kid any harm, but he's a year away anyway, isn't he? By that, I just mean that it has no effect on this year's team.

Would've been nice for him to get some Traverse City experience and preseason NHL experience too.

Seems like anything else goes here on this "Worst Rangers Trades" blog, Part Two here, Jan. So let's take it as if it were a Mets related one, but all time speaking instead.
(1) The "Midnight Massacre" trade of Seaver (and Dave Kingman separately), although Daily News writer, Richard Young, basically ran Seaver and his wife out of town, in repeatedly mocking both back then.
(2) A young developing potential star pitcher in Nolan Ryan for a 3B nearing retirement in Jim Fregosi.
Or for bigger laughs for both them as well as their trade partner, but not as one of the Mets worst ever trades, I don't recall the player's name, who in those early Mets days was traded for "a player to be named later", with the player who later came in return, being the one the Mets had originally traded to that team.
Otherwise, Rangers related, Rick Middleton for Ken Hodge is hands down again, thee worst overall trade of those two separate Rangers' eras.
Have a great holiday weekend Jan and all, with the hockey weather chill in the late summer air here today.

I actually heard Nolan Ryan talking about the Mets trade one time and I got the impression that the Mets had to trade him, he had to do army reserve duty part time in Texas and there was really no choice. I don't know, could be wrong, but the explanation was something to that effect.

The Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi trade is one of the worst in the history of sports, not just baseball. But Keith Hernandez for Neil Allen & Rick Ownebey worked out.

It was routine back then & likely earlier, for players having to serve "military reserve duty" at some location for a specified period of time. You could be correct, Jim, in that relation to Ryan.
However, the Mets also feared Ryan's early pitching control problems being an issue, in the N.L. with the lower strike zone, due to him being a high-ball pitcher. That's likely why he was traded to the A.L.'s Angels, before returning later & also having great success back in the N.L. with Houston during its N.L. days. The Mets, including in 1969, could never win a series vs. Houston, except for most importantly, the 1986 N.L. Championship Series.
I believe nearly 20 years ago, writer, Jack Lang, said that the Ryan (+ 2 or 3 others) for a then Shortstop, in Fregosi, may be "the worst trade in MLB history, unless you include the year earlier Amos Otis for Joe Foy trade". Foy's failure at 3B, was what led to Ryan being traded in exchange for Fregosi to play 3B instead thereafter. The bigger shocker was that many believe it was Gil Hodges who actually initiated the demand of the also horrific, Otis for Foy trade.

And without an epic comeback in the 9th inning of Game 6 that year they might not have either. They were most likely not gonna beat Mike Scott in GAME 7 in Houston with how he was pitching (scuffing )

What a great picture. If the NHL ever wants to really do something about increasing scoring all they have to do is look at that picture. Both the leg pads and chest/arm pads are normal. The pads the goalies have now, you can't even see the net because they're so big. And I think that it's BS that goalies say it's for protection. I don't recall the goalies in the 80's being injured that much compared to now.

Scott suddenly turned from a former average Mets starting pitching prospect into being a Hall of Fame caliber starter for Houston at that time by scuffing the ball. I agree Brian, that had the Mets not made that epic 9th inning comeback, nor as well survived through the turn of events of those 9 extra innings it required to win that Game 6, they would have never likely beaten Scott in a Game 7. Nether would there have ever been that later unimaginable & even greater epic comeback in the 10th inning of World Series Game 6, involving someone named "Buckner" in the end, prior to becoming World Champs in Game 7.
