I know you're being facetious, but I'd really like to see a 3L of Sharp/Schmaltz/Hartman for more balance in the lines.

Be good if they could find someone to fit on the 2L with AA and Kane.

I don't think Kruger was slotted as his center for long enough to determine anything. From their roles, it's hard to think they would be. The most time they spent together in a consistent manner was in 2012-13 - they played together for 6 games, of which they combined for 2 goals, but they had another 4 in season when shifting together sporadically. I believe the only player that Kane spent any significant amount of time with (100+ minutes in a season) that he didn't produce with was Handzus (he was on the ice for only one Kane goal in 2013-14).

The difference between winning an losing a playoff series is often razor thin. Often the losing team is not as bad as they looked nor the winning team as good as they looked. Nashville finished 16th in the league during the regular season. They were outscored 17 to 4 in their four cup losses. They are a really good team that got hot at the end of the year and had a hot goaltender. But I am not ready to say they are or anyone else is head and shoulders above the Hawks based on that small sample size. It will be a dog fight to get in the playoffs, and then things get tougher. I want to see how Saad, Murphy, Dauphin, Wingels, Hartman, Panik, Forsberg, Forsling, Rutta, Schmaltz, Fortin, Hayden, Debrincat Bouma, Jurco and others perform. Plenty of unknowns going into the season. If a few of them turnout to be as good or better than anticipated the Hawks would be legitimate contenders.

I agree about how the difference between winning and loosing can be razor thin. It wasn't last year. What Nashville has going into each series is a blue line corp as good or better. Rhine runs hot and cold, but stay the course and he will probably be worth his salary. They have Johansson ready to emerge as a pivatol, bigger scorer. They have more younger, improving, aggressive players hungry to reach the next level in their game. We do not yet know how well Toews back holds out. Just looking at the facts, we might compare much better after the regular season reveals more about our team capability than the present uncertain moment

If somebody new can step up and claim the 2LW spot this team could end up with a solid top 9. I would love to see 10/8/38 as the 3rd line as well.

Vanek could be a solid free agent signing, maybe Hudler as a backup plan. I don't know if he plays LW but Alex Chiasson could be an option.

I am just saying ... of all the teams the Blackhawks have sent to this tourney, this one has the most talent as most other years they had quite a few more fillers around the drafted hawks...this year I see 4 forwards and 2 defenseman....

A name that was interesting to me was DeBrincat and Raddyish's Erie teammate, Kyle Maksimovich.

He's a smaller guy and was passed over in the NHL draft this year. He was invited to the Leafs developmental camp and The Athletic did a story on how he was impressing there.

High skill level, just needs someone to take a chance with him.

Think it's more of a timing thing with those guys if I had to guess. They are probably training with these school's right now as the season is around the corner.

Plus it will be really nice for Colliton and his staff to check out what they're working with in Rockford as there are a lot of young cats down there this year.

I saw Michael Cramarossa getting a tryout and thought he was someone the Hawks were considering earlier this summer but I think it was the other Cramarossa (Joseph) who they had interest in as a potential 4th liner. I believe they're brothers.

Does Colliton and his Rockford assistants coach during the tourney? Or is it the Hawks assistant coaches sans Q?

An interesting invite is Cody Caron. I didn't know anything about him so when I did a web search, I came across this photo of him from the 2014 Prospect Tourney when he was a Hawks invite back then as well. The Hawks must have considerable interest in Caron to invite him to play in the tourney again 3 years later. Can't remember, but maybe he was also on the 2015 and 2016 tourney teams as well?

He seems to be strictly a bruiser which doesn't seem to fit the mold of the type prospects that Bowman and the scouts are attracted to.

Of course, but to be fair, I'm looking at it now.

Larmer and Belfour were great and beloved Hawks, some thought Steve Smith the next great thing. Trade would have been in 91, so Larmer was only around two more years. Obviously Belfour was moved, and Smith wasn't all that.

Would be interesting to see if Lindros would have been a different player with a different organization.

And of course, Dollar Bill wouldn't have paid him, so Lindros would have been gone after his contract was up

Walsh is RELENTLESSLY pumping his guys.

I don't think there's any question Rutta has NHL physical ability. For him, it will be the mental adjustment to the smaller NHL ice sheet, speed and physicality (all of which combined make much faster, better decisions than he is used to a necessity), like it was for Kempny and many others coming over from EU for the first time. Sometimes, it can take a while, too.

I don't see them going for a "patch" at 2LW which is what Vanek or Hudler would be. Could they go that route? I guess, but it seems like they have a lot of "in-house" candidates who could potentially thrive opposite Kane (Kane being Kane, after all): Sharp, Hartman, Jurco, to name a few.
