I think his skating is below AVG for the NHL. Is what I heard. And really does not have a Above Avg NHL skill. He plays hard, Hits and has a solid IQ.

BTW what would you say is Hayden's shortcoming? Consistency. Will play more minutes in the AHL.

The Pirri, clending, shaw, Morin trades were all pretty solid, Sharp danult, Bladder, Kimo we terrible.

Does anyone know anything about zaripov? could he slot at 2LW? He had 15 goals in 18PF games last year. also if you had a choice of Fransen or Polak? which would you do?

I don't know if arena naming rights are included in HRR. My guess is no.

My guess is "no" too - the arenas are never (?) owned directly by the teams (the Toronto arena is owned by MLSE, which also owns the Leafs, Raptors, Marlies, and other entertainment companies - like the UC is owned by United Center Joint Ventures, which is owned by the Hawks and the Bulls), and specific arena revenues are not part of HRR.

That is why the hawks don't make money but the UC Ventures does. I partner in a skybox and we cut our checks to UC ventures. what do season ticket holders cut checks to?

I'm sure they might consider him, but a guy like Artur Tyanulin might be more up their alley.

This makes a lot of sense. Winning Cups has been great marketing for the team, but now they need something else. An exciting young prospect or big trade acquisition would do the trick.

I don't see any of the current prospects stepping up this season in the top 6, but hopefully I am wrong.

The Murphy and Saad trades were great but they are about re-positioning and not necessarily about immediate improvement. Another trade would be required.

In the realm on next to impossible, the best move (on-ice and publicity wise) would be a miracle cure for Hossa.

So let us hypothesize how good and how far this team could advance. The measuring stick is to beat Nashville just to get in position to play for or be a Cup finalist.

With Hossa. And a new look, new aggressive style team we have a tall order getting past the now been there, done that Predators Cup finalist. They've reconstructed the roster and their team might be better. Loosing Neal however hurts. But they have many younger players who stepped up in the playoffs and will continue to do so. The Pred's are young, hungry, have the defense plus that very chastised Subban.

Even if Bowman made a deadline trade, and even if one or two prospects come up huge for us, it is clearly Edmonton and Nashville as two top contenders with the retooled Dallas and always cantankerous, rough and tumble Anaheim best equipped to challenge them.

Sorry to say, not us. Although I think Stan is treading in right direction...so kudos to him.

The question is more are the hawks going to be what he is looking for?

He probably wants a bonus laden contract close to Panarin's, where he gets to cash in on the points he scores around the likes of others, so IF he thought he was auditioning for Panarin's slot, he might be interested.
I am pretty sure at his age, he probably (even if he takes an initial one year contract that I keep hearing about) wants to sign with an NHL team where there will be room to stretch his deal inot another 2-3 years.
So, if a team happens along and offers a three year deal, I bet he bites at that over a Toronto or Chicago or Washington who would be looking for a lower Cap number plus bonuses...

This is a pretty quick kid with lots of jump; but watch this footage of the wily vet Danil Zaripov and tell me if he looks like the perfect ready to plug n play with Kane:

While Nashville has a good team I don't see them as a long-term legit Cup contender. I think they got hot at the right time last season just like San Jose did the season before.

I think this year's team can be better that last year, despite all the changes. The core of Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, and Crawford should be a good as last year with Toews improving with the addition of Saad. I think that Toews+Saad will have a greater positive impact on the team than Kane+Panarin (not taking anything away from how awesome the Breadman is).

Panik I expect to stay around the same level but I think it's reasonable to expect improvement from Schmaltz and Hartman next season.

Losing Hossa is the real killer, hopefully the addition of Sharp helps fill some of that void.

Murphy and Kempy should be solid on defense, but after that the team is hoping 1-2 young guys step up or Stan makes a move.

Wingels improves the 4th line and hopefully Kero continues to improve his game.

If 1-2 of Jurco, Hayden, Hinostroza, Debrincat oe Dauphin can step up that will help the depth as well.

I'm not sold on Bouma, hopefully I am wrong but I don't see him contributing much.

The difference between winning an losing a playoff series is often razor thin. Often the losing team is not as bad as they looked nor the winning team as good as they looked. Nashville finished 16th in the league during the regular season. They were outscored 17 to 4 in their four cup losses. They are a really good team that got hot at the end of the year and had a hot goaltender. But I am not ready to say they are or anyone else is head and shoulders above the Hawks based on that small sample size. It will be a dog fight to get in the playoffs, and then things get tougher. I want to see how Saad, Murphy, Dauphin, Wingels, Hartman, Panik, Forsberg, Forsling, Rutta, Schmaltz, Fortin, Hayden, Debrincat Bouma, Jurco and others perform. Plenty of unknowns going into the season. If a few of them turnout to be as good or better than anticipated the Hawks would be legitimate contenders.

I think he would be a better option than Sharp opposite Kane.

That might be a stretch since the guy has never played an NHL game. Prior to becoming a free agent and NHL eligible I'd bet most people never had heard of Zaripov let alone consider him an option to play with Kane.

Might be a stretch but the guy appears to be a winner. Also, there are a lot of Russians that have no desire to play in the NHL and are happy to stay in the KHL. But for the suspension, I doubt that Zaripov would have ever come to the NHL. But he does fit what the Hawks are looking for - veteran left wing that should not command crazy money.

The guy may be talented and be capable of playing in the NHL, but at this point I'd rather take my chances with Sharp over him if I had to choose.
