Is Matthews going to be a #1 C or concentrate on scoring goals?

Doesn't most C (top that is), work to 'produce' scoring & in doing so assist more than score? I understand from a team prospective that they want goals anyway they can get them, but as a structure the team needs systemic growth where wingers score & C set them up? As Matthews develops he may reduce actual goals & increase assists being a productive C. Getting close to 100 points is more important than 40 goals (69 points), in my opinion.

When you talk about McD, I'll let others give you their opinion. But the guy just won some pretty big awards in his 2nd year in the NHL.

he was flanked by two rookies all year. one of which is a mucker and hard worker not a goal scorer. He works hard at both ends of the ice. He didnt sacrifice his overall game just to score. He isnt and very likely never will be better than McDavid overall but hes pretty close. I agree his goals may not always be this high, its very hard for anyone on this league to score that much and consistently but the kid can do it all. he isnt lackong in any area imo.

Do you English?? 14.2 is "around 15". In no common-sense world or country is it "a big different in shooting percentage". That is 8 goals per 1,000 shots difference, or in terms a derp such as yourself may understand, 2 goals per year for a player that shoots ~3 times per game.

Facts back up that Tarasenko has been an elite NHLer for multiple seasons. Matthews had 1 successful season. Get over yourself and gain some perspective. You are the type of fan that makes your team's base look bad.

A lot of Leafs fans want to blow the discussion up by claiming, "everyone thinks he'll never score 50", which is absolutely delusional and insane. I'd never make that argument. By the question of the "Hot"stove, I respond by guessing that he won't hit 40 (or 50) this season. If I were a betting man, I would wager that he will score 50 at least once in his career. I just think he'll be closer to the 35-goal-range than 50 this upcoming season.

An expectation of him scoring 50 goals for 2018 is very unrealistic. History wouldn't be on your side if you're making that argument. No amount of attempted personal attacks or delusional xenophobic posts will change that. None of this is specifically directed at you, Mr. Babcock ( ).
