I wouldn't want him here. I guess he could get some second PP time depending on who else makes the team, but I don't think he would be much of an upgrade or get to really utilize his skillset within our d group.

I do agree he is an upgrade over Manning though, so if they don't mind waiving Manning I would be fine with it

Agreed.

So I tried to get tickets the other day for the Flyers rookie game and they sold out in just a few hours. Thats super impressive.

My wife and I welcomed our second child (and our first boy) to the world a few weeks ago and I thought that would be a cool game to go to as a family. My daughter LOVES going to the games.

I don't think it helped him to play in the Czech Extraliga as a 4th liner for two years, but the organization still likes him. I don't think he'll have a career like Sami Kapanen's -- Kase is strictly a bottom 6 utility prospect whereas Kapanen had a couple of NHL All-Star seasons in Carolina -- but they are cut from the same basic cloth in terms of work ethic, hockey smarts and fearlessness.
- bmeltzer

I'd be okay with a bottom 6 forward who played with even half the skill as Kapanen. Hopefully they can get him over soon and get him to play with more age appropriate competition in the AHL. Perhaps then we can get an even better sense of what type of player he can be.

If they sign a guy like Franson and then waive Manning or MacDonald it would create a logjam on D in Allentown. Assuming Hagg and Morin made the Flyers:

Brennan-MacDonald or Manning
Sanheim-Myers
O'Neill-Alt
Friedman-Willcox
DeHaas-Hora

First of all, congrats!!! We've got our second on the way.

My buddy was able to snag 3 tix for us. My daughter is also super excited.

I'd take them down to a preseason game if you can't get tix to the rookie games. Also, if you're close by at all, you should take them down to training camp.

A word of advice: we took our daughter to a preseason game at about 1 year old. We sat in the top row, and she was okay. After the first, we moved down to the first row of the second level, and when that LOUDEST HORN IN THE NHL went off, she was screaming and crying like crazy. So my advice would be either noise-cancelling head phones or sit in the top row, where the noise bounces back as opposed to being under the speakers.

I'd be okay with sitting Alt. Also, if Manning gets beat, I'd look to move him for anything.

The guy I want to invite to came is Despres, since he'll have to "prove it" somewhere, if he's even healthy enough to skate.

I play in a couple different mens leagues and what not and my daughter always wants to come to my games lol.

Her first game was the game against the Kings where Ghost scored his first goal. We were two rows off the glass and next to the Kings bench. Doughty gave us a puck. Really cool experience. She has been to about 15 or so game since then and is always excited when she finds out we are going.

My son Nolan (the name was picked before we had our daughter as we didnt find out the sex of either baby) will be going to his first game on 10/21 @1:00 pm against the Oilers. Hopefully Nolan Patrick can score a goal for Nolan Jak.

I can remember being a young lad and coming across a Forsberg rookie card which was a photo of him being drafted in a Flyers' uniform. Needless to say, what followed was confusion, then sadness

I have that card.

91/92 Upper Deck #64 (I believe Selanne is #8, 9, or 13).

Edit: #21? Wow. And I forgot the "4" on 64. Fail.

Congrats! I was able to snag 4 tickets for the rookie game, however, there is a chance I can't make the game anymore due to work. I'll try to find out soon, but if I can't make it I'll gladly forward the email with the tickets for you and the family

Back in 2006 at the Joe, I saw Forsberg play on a line with Gagne. We lost 6-3, both sides were on top of each conference at the time. Gagne scored two of our goals. I always felt Gagne was the most complete two way winger I've ever seen but Forsberg might have really put him in that conversation. Forsberg put Gagne on that level.

I would love to be in the alternate universe where the Flyers had Lindros and Forsberg as their 1-2 punch
- HOWSMYDICTATE

If the Flyers had been willing to trade Brind'Amour in the Lindros package and wait for Forsberg (2 more seasons, at it turned out, before he made his NHL debut in 1994-95), they could have kept Mike Ricci and traded Slava Butsayev (then a highly regarded prospect in his own right) instead of Forsberg.

Entering the 1994-95 lockout year, the Flyers would have had a forward corps that included Lindros (entering 3rd season), Mark Recchi, Mikael Renberg (entering 2nd season), Forsberg (rookie), Ricci, Kevin Dineen and Patrik Juhlin (rookie).

However, it wasn't the wrong call to make Brind'Amour untouchable in any Lindros deal. The Flyers didn't miss the playoffs by much in 1993-94 and probably would have gotten in had Lindros not been injured for two lengthy stretches. Take Brind'Amour out of the picture as well (remember, Forsberg was still playing in Sweden at the time) at it would have been really, really ugly those couple years instead of being a bubble team that finished outside the playoffs. The big issue wasn't scoring.... it was a poor blueline and very inconsistent goaltending from Roussel and Söderström.

Wonder if Athanasiou would accept 2 years at $1.92M.

If so, I'd offer sheet him.

Would probably need to be higher to keep wings from matching. I would make a play for him though.
