I find it laughable that they made Lindros wait for so long, yet Mike Franking Gardiner was a shoo-in.

Gardiner scored 30 goals for 30 years. He was never a particularly exciting player.

Lindros was a killing machine who could score. He was the most exciting player at the time to watch. He should have been in on the first ballot.
