I grew to like the caveman Polak last year. He was pretty good on the PK and brought a physical element the Leafs need. Sure I'd like the Leafs D corps to get good enough that he can't crack it, but you need eight or more NHL D to make it through a season and playoffs and I don't think they have that yet.
I wonder if he know they're going to sign him when he fully recovers and they work out impending moves, otherwise would he practice in Leafs gear? Maybe Brown's not the only guy that's waiting for the contract situation to clear up before they officially sign. Babcock likes him we know that. Him getting injured might have ulimately cost the Leafs that series, that's how close it was. |

He deserves a 1 year deal or at least a try out. He gave it his all for Toronto when they didn't seem ( at seasons start) to have a lot but to play for. Great leader, rugged and hard working. - marklaprise
I imagine if he isn't signed somewhere soon he gets offered a PTO with the leafs, they can evaluate him, see if the injury has effected his play. They can see see him along with all the other kids and make a decision which way to go. If one of the kids earns a spot they just let him walk. |

I think both parties pretty much know he'll get another contract as long as he can prove he's healthy. He's been using the Leafs facilities all summer (even as an FA). They'll have first dibs on him regardless. |

Off the top, there was only ever one true caveman. Hint it was never Polak.
Secondly, they need the depth, he would be an add to the team in a 7/8 spot and I would rather him than Marincin if someone goes down with an injury.
If Dermot can't beat out Polak or Marincin for a spot then he hasen't earned it yet, but from what I have read I think the kid is ready.
Good morning folks! |

This is probably old news to most, but I just read that Liljegren's club in Sweden is planning under the assumption that he will play in North America this season. I'm always a fan of getting the Europeans on the N.A. ice surface as quick as possible. |

Yeah I saw that as well, likely won't be a Zaitsev but even if he is 75% as good its a free asset. |

Because he hasn't paid for hockey equipment since he was 15 years old, so it would seem silly to make a trip to Sportchek to buy new equipment, when he has perfectly good stuff that is a year old sitting in his hockey bag.
Or Lou has signed him to a double secret contract that circumvents 17 CBA rules, that we are keeping on the down-low so that Canucks fans don't find out about it, but oddly it requires Polak to wear blue and white while rehabbing.
You decide. |
