It's not a question of how his attitude and personality would mesh with the vets...it's a question of would the country-club welcome him in.

Personally I think he would be fine but like anything...there is risk.

- LordHumungous

I think the risk is that we know Jagr is in it for himself. He doesnt care about any team's future plans, he cares about how he plays and getting another contract.

If things do not go well, it could be a bad situation, but I think he would do everything in his power to ensure him and his linemates are successful and put up points. It would be a delicate dance, but the Canucks should be flexible enough to accommodate him, if he wants to come here

Keep in mind I have rose coloured glasses for Jagr when I saw definitely.

The guy is 45 and put up more points in the last 2 years than anyone on Van's roster, you cant do that unless youre a professional and take care of yourself. He isnt around to party, and would likely demand that same professionalism out of his teammates (or his linemates at the very least). He is among the all time greats, no doubt the kids would hang on his every word and do what he asks IMO

Don't know about that, I wouldn't pay to see that dinosaur.
- Marwood

I get the fact he's old but he sure is dedicated and productive. Plus his history as one of the best players the league has ever seen is like a 'brand name' so to speak. I'm willing to bet he could fill a lot of those empty chairs and I for one would for sure pay to see him in a Nucks uni.

IMO if Jagr came here, it would be solely to boost his value and get traded to a contender in the same year. I am betting he would come in and say, gimme Horvat and ______ as my linemates, rebuild my value, and we'll see what people want me for at the deadline

Valid points. Personally, I'm not really interested in seeing/aquiring someone in the twilight of their career. Right now, I am more interested in watching the growth & progress of the young Canucks & prospects. If the Canucks used Jagr as an enticement to fans I would view that as a desperate and off course PR move. They should just stick to their 'getting younger and faster' plan. My opinion right or wrong.

Not wrong at all excellent points. For me this team needs a 'boost' of sorts. Whether that is a few more tickets sold for the stands or a little more excitement on the ice with Jagr I'm all for it. Buy hey I am totally content with going with the kids...all good.

Exactly on the selfish approach. Why I questioned risk on meshing with team. He'd be professional and all but the vets, who aren't going anywhere, on Canucks this season may not appreciate it. Thus it may harm development of younger guys.

Even a pump and dump would be risky as it didn't work out last season for him. That it may cost a prospect or reclamation player ice time well don't know if it is worth the risk.

But hey if it happens will enjoy the spectacle as he is kind of a legend.

Why isn't everyone making a bigger deal about the Horvat (non-)signing???

What's happening right now does not bode well for us. It should be the top-story every day.

For instance, notice how Hirsch said 'you don't want to lose him' in the article linked to above? Right before changing the subject? Now, why on Earth would he ever say that??? Horvat's an RFA, we are in absolutely no danger of losing him (unless he wants out). So, why would Hirsch imply we are in danger of losing him? Why would he ever do that - unless management has actually been talking about it? Unless they've actually been gaming this out?

This implies that they've offered Horvat multiple different humongous contracts - and he's turned them all down. It also implies that management are worring about what to do without Bo.

It sure looks like we are about to get screwed. Massively.

Sutter looked 'real good' here on his skates today and there doesn't seem to be any effects of a band hand on his shooting, which is a good sign. He looks good all around. Kris Russell however looked outstanding out there today. Super quick and a great first pass.
- LordHumungous

Cool share. He'll be needed for development. Too bad Russel can't teach Sutter how to pass
