there's no way any team was moving down in that 83 draft...especially after Minnesota took lawton

bowman was here from 79-80 to early season 86-87

very good draft 79-80
80-81 was bad, but blah class
81-82 flamed out, took Dudacek in round 1, never came over
Very good player in Virta in round 2, but he went overseas after a few year
Imagine if he took Chelios over Virta
82-83 had 3 first round picks and probably took 2 of the top 5 in the class with housley and andreychuk
83-84 took barrasso but had 2 other picks in top 11
if he moved them to get up in the draft, wonder what the team would have been like with yzerman, neely, or lafontaine instead of lacombe and creighton
84-85 draft sucked, hell they gave sheppard away for a dollar
his last 2 drafts also sucked

bowman was never afraid to pull the trigger, but also let his ego get in the way

IMO coming to buffalo brought scotty back down to earth and he became a better gm after, of course other teams benefited from it not us

- homiedclown

80 draft class sucked best player Buffalo took was Cunnyworth and he played 35 games for the Sabres.

81 was awful. 12 players selected totaling 345 gp. Virta played 245 of those.

82 all those stockpile of picks (15 of them) netted them 3811 gp (3134 of those were Andreychuk and Housley).

83 again a ton of picks. 3 1st rounders for the second year in a row. Barrasso was the only one worth a damn. They did hit on Puppa(4th), Krupp(11th), and Ruuttu(7th). Tucker was alright I mean the guy was traded for himself at one point.

84 Ray Sheppard was a good player who was let go for a $1.........

85 They drafted a bunch of guys that made names of themselves........ for other teams.

86 Bob "Mother Fvcking" Corkum..............

87 Sneaky Pete. The other 12 guys taken played 150 and scored 11 points.

88 Their 4th and 5th rd picks were Keith Carney, Mogilny, and Rob Ray.

89 8th and 9th rd picks of Derek Plante and "The French Gorilla" Donald Audette.

Lawton might be the worst #1 pick of all time.

Not saying it would have 100% happened but if Pegula doesn't buy the franchises, are either in Buffalo anymore? Sabres probably, but the Bills, not sure about that.
- Sabres1523

Sabres would have stayed, Bills would have left.

I love the Bills to death but the best thing would have been for them to relocate and us try to get an expansion after the end of the decade, obviously with a new stadium as the main selling point. Pegula would have been much better off waiting and putting in a bid for an expansion team from an investment standpoint as well.

If I'm not mistaken, he could have saved about 500 million in this scenario.

I don't get some of the stuff I read on O'Reilly and I don't think we've seen the best he has to offer yet

If the Bills left Buffalo I am not sure they would get a team back in expansion...

The league has been pushing hard for LA and say they ended up in Toronto I doubt the league would be willing to put another team in Buffalo. Not to mention there is an even 32 teams, expansion in the NFL is years away.

There are at least 10 cities that would get a team before Buffalo. We're never getting a sniff of an MLB or NBA team. I'm sure the NFL owners wanted Trump or bon jovi to buy the team and move. I also don't see the league expanding beyond 32 teams

Couldn't even produce with McDavid, throw in the towel with that one. What a stinker...what I would give to be around the Oilers management during those years.
